Rug Size Help Please

I am needing help deciding what size of rug to use in my home office. The room is 12x12 and the picture shows the layout. Suggestions on a size?

8x10 would work depending on the pattern. I would not get a rug with a center medallion.

You could use an 8x10 if you are keeping this set up and want a large rug and lay the 8ft horizontally. If it were me, I would try the piano on back wall with large art above and place armoire on right wall. Turn desk and centre under window and use a 5x7 under desk area or in centre of room

I was watching a decorating show the other day and they said a rug should always be touched by several pieces of furniture and never be just "floating"... so I'd buy the size rug that would go under more furniture pieces. Are you still thinking of buying from Decorator's Outlet? Check the 80% off rug section.. you might find something you like there and you can save all kinds of $$$. Your office is looking great BTW.

Oly, I love the rug. It's nice to walk and stand on, and the color is perfect. It's 100% wool, which I love. The couch will be the same navy leather as the chairs in a few weeks. It is on order. So the pattern in the rug won't compete with the floral in the couch. Ingrid, thanks for your suggestions. Everything faces the tv in this room (over the fireplace). I'd i loves the right hand chair to be directly across from the window chair, it would sit in the middle of an open wall to the dining room. Yes, the couch is at an angle. About 45 degrees. It brings it into the room instead of so far back u see the stairs. There is a sofa table behind it, also at an angle. There is enough room behind that for me to walk back there. Here is another view from the dining room. I have always found this living room layout difficult to arrange.

Your house and new doors are beautiful! I agree with getting a rug just a bit wider than the doors. I think a brass and glass accent table beside the doors would look so pretty in place of your current one. They’d repeat the lovely gold fixtures and be a nice balance with the bigger, heavier entry table across the room. (First is on Overstock, second on Ballard Designs ... but a true vintage one would be great, too.)

Sorry, not sure why the picture didn't post. Here it is again. RL, I like the round pendant and the pleated one in your first set of suggestions. Is that a Nelson bubble pendant? Also, I should have given a few dimensional details. The table is 36" wide at the ends, 40" wide in the center. Ceiling height is 92".

Love that rug! I tried that layout but turning the desk towards the window means I couldn't keep the blinds open working without getting a headache and I like the natural light coming in while I work. So this is kind of a function thing.

🥴 Just a thought given your room is eclectic - your desk could suit being back a bit and on a slant, as furniture feels lined up. Slant a 5x7 rug underneath.

Move floor lamp to another corner and add art on back wall and use tones from your rug. Room will be really cute - image couch below is your desk but up further and on a slant.
