Does anyone have pics of painted Island with stained perimeter?
Comments (18)I struggled with this exact same dilema. Most of the two tone kitchens have light perimeter and dark island. The style of my house and surrounding furniture does not really support the look of so much light cabinetry. But I also didn't want an all dark cabinet kitchen. I began searching desperately for pictures in magazines and as I looked I began to find a few and they were beautiful! Then Sharon1 posted pictures of her kitchen and she had the exact same color scheme I had just ordered and I thought it was gorgeous! It was a huge load off my back. My perimeter is a dark stain rustic beech and my island is a creamy glaze. I haven't picked countertops yet - I don't know what I want to do yet. I think the reason you see my light perimeters is that it keeps the kitchen light and airy and a dark island looks more like a piece of furniture. Flipping it is less common, but it is still beautiful. I wish I had pictures, but I'm a DIY project under construction! :-) I also searched for Sharon1 and all her pictures fell of the forum, which is a bummer. I couldn't find her in the FKB either - she must not have posted there. I'm sorry to not be more help visually. But hopefully I've reassured you that many of us have done the very color scheme you are considering!...See MoreMy Raspberry Cream Twirl roses, aka Calibri
Comments (52)Stephanie, I'm impressed you got the other two red minis to live through January. Mine start turning yellow almost immediately. I don't keep the house too warm and I don't over water them. I stopped buying minis until I thought to try them outside. Looks like that's going to be the answer. My yellow one is still in the big blue Costco pot, but will go in the ground soon. Dianela, I agree I don't like seeing dead blooms on the bushes, but roses that shed their spent blooms are not all that common in my garden. The ones that do are a real plus! I love hearing that RCT is so healthy and strong. I would never have thought your temps got that low. We haven't gotten much colder than that in recent years. If RCT gets even half as tall as yours I will be thrilled. I'm ok with relying on clematis to finish off the top of the arbors with roses that only make it half way up. There are some that may surprise me. Lunar Mist could make it all the way to the top if I ever get it planted....See MoreRaspberry Cream Twirl for Dianela
Comments (28)@Glimmer of Hope This rose looks delicious!... it is so uniquely colored and almost like something out of a fairy tale. Would you mind sharing a picture of where you have or planted??? I would love to see the entire plant and get a sense the overall look of it in the landscape....See MoreRaspberry Cream Twirl
Comments (29)Carla -- I think I have your same trellis in my veggie garden! Found mine at Costco. I have RCT in a partly shaded area, with the idea it will climb my arbor that frames the path along the side of my house to the backyard. But it's been very slow starting (1 gallon from Heirloom) -- but The Impressionist was planted about same time, also 1 gallon from Heirloom, and it has taken off this spring, so I'm hopeful that RCT will come along. If not, I may have to move it somewhere else. Not sure if it needs more sun, or it's just slow starting on its own roots. I also got peach leaf curl on my nectaplum (despite having sprayed with copper in Dec/Jan), and am getting some black spots. It is still very moist here, and drippy marine layer in morning. But RCT is looking good! @Sheryl May 8a - any updated photos on your slope? It was looking pretty amazing!...See MoreVaporvac Z6-OhioRiverValley
