Anyone growing Raspberry Cream Twirl?
Comments (8)Jasmine: I bet it was beautiful. Maybe if you make another trip sometime you can get some pictures. There aren't that many good clear photos on the web. I think its a newer rose so that's probably why. beth: Oh I didn't know I could've got a grafted one. I would have done that lol. Hopefully mine will be okay on its own roots. It is really large for a band so maybe it will stay vigorous. Kippy: How is the repeat flowering on yours? I got this to pair up with the Laguna rose which I know can become a monster lol. Laguna rose thread: http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/2138572/rosa-laguna dublinbay: That is exactly what I keep thinking...Raspberry Cream Twirl..some kind of soft serve swirly ice cream or frozen yogurt with whipped cream and raspberries..maybe a few little chocolate curls on top! :P I also, can't wait to see the blooms on this rose. They are supposed to be some big yummy cupcake type blooms.. https://www.google.com/search?q=raspberry+cream+twirl+rose&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=ksZPVZG9C8ucgwTBgIHYBA&ved=0CB0QsAQ ~SJN...See MoreMy Raspberry Cream Twirl roses, aka Calibri
Comments (52)Stephanie, I'm impressed you got the other two red minis to live through January. Mine start turning yellow almost immediately. I don't keep the house too warm and I don't over water them. I stopped buying minis until I thought to try them outside. Looks like that's going to be the answer. My yellow one is still in the big blue Costco pot, but will go in the ground soon. Dianela, I agree I don't like seeing dead blooms on the bushes, but roses that shed their spent blooms are not all that common in my garden. The ones that do are a real plus! I love hearing that RCT is so healthy and strong. I would never have thought your temps got that low. We haven't gotten much colder than that in recent years. If RCT gets even half as tall as yours I will be thrilled. I'm ok with relying on clematis to finish off the top of the arbors with roses that only make it half way up. There are some that may surprise me. Lunar Mist could make it all the way to the top if I ever get it planted....See MoreRaspberry Cream Twirl shade tolerance?
Comments (2)I think it will flower better w more sun. I love mine so I ordered 2 more this spring lol. My first one was in sun most all of the day with a teeny bit of dappled afternoon shade, like around 4pm. Then the trees grew bigger and denser. It got more and more shade. It flowered less. A few weeks ago, I just totally moved it out front in a much sunnier spot on a new arch. I think it will be happier. I am in a very humid environment. The more humid, the more straight-on sun plants can take. If you are in a hot dry area, you may be able to get away with more shade and still get flowering....See MoreRaspberry Cream Twirl
Comments (29)Carla -- I think I have your same trellis in my veggie garden! Found mine at Costco. I have RCT in a partly shaded area, with the idea it will climb my arbor that frames the path along the side of my house to the backyard. But it's been very slow starting (1 gallon from Heirloom) -- but The Impressionist was planted about same time, also 1 gallon from Heirloom, and it has taken off this spring, so I'm hopeful that RCT will come along. If not, I may have to move it somewhere else. Not sure if it needs more sun, or it's just slow starting on its own roots. I also got peach leaf curl on my nectaplum (despite having sprayed with copper in Dec/Jan), and am getting some black spots. It is still very moist here, and drippy marine layer in morning. But RCT is looking good! @Sheryl May 8a - any updated photos on your slope? It was looking pretty amazing!...See MoreGlimmer of Hope (9b, inland SoCal)
