Has anyone tried any new teas lately?
Comments (11)Well, the "Lady Grey" tins had no expiration dates that I could read properly but I bought one. The "Prince of Wales" I bought is best used by 2012. I made a comment to the owner about expiration dates again, but he said "They just don't put them on do they?" Then he tried to convince me that the dates were only "shelf dates" and should not be sold after that. Well, I told him as he rang up a box of "Yorkshire Gold" tea bags that I gave a gift of this YG (purchased at his shop) to a friend one time and found out later it was nearly 2yrs. old! He said he doesn't understand the difference in taste really - oh brother. I answered it "Tastes like straw when old!" ha. he just smiled. Anyway, my box of YG is good until November of 2010 - 40bags to a box - how will I ever drink all of those before November? If anyone wants to sample Yorkshire Gold send me your address and I'll slip several or more bags into an envelope! And I also bought a small box of 20 Lapsang Souchong tea bags to try again. It has such an exotic smokey flavor that I didn't want to buy an entire tin. The shop owner also told me that Twinings is no longer going to offer the small packs of 6 bags. Have to buy boxes of 20bgs. in the future....See MoreItaly Bowls & Silverplate Tea Set Finds for Holidays Ahead!
Comments (15)Thanks, holiday-ers, for your kind comments (& funny ones, too!) LOL! ...yup, I guess "it" is a "boy" bunny...that pocket watch gave it away! LOL! I worked at "polishing" today...I like your fav solution, kathleen,... "that a friend would use to clean it for me! ...so wonderful that your Mom did that & that you inherited the silver. Well, I was afraid to do it...but I tried the "boiled water" theory on a couple pcs ... with the purchase the other day, I also got an old "tarnish remover plate" in a cardboard folder (probably from the 50's..."the fastest, easiest & most effective way to clean silver!" it says! HA! I boiled 3 big kettles of water, added the measured amts of Baking Soda & covered the pcs completely.... Sorry to say, all it did was SET OFF 3 OF THE SMOKE ALARMS here upstairs! So, back to the rag & polish...worked on 'em for 2 more hrs & said, ENOUGH! Here's pic: So, quite an improvement but will need more work! And, Jane, yes, it was fun to see more details...I'm glad you have this set, too. Some little pit marks on tray yet...will try to work on those later....much later! Yup, kathleen, "Frumps" is carrying what you think she is...LOL...that's why I thought it was a good gift for my sis turnin' 60! (& being such a GOOD nurse!) Thanks, everyone! 'appreciated! The Nativity & Santa's I put away after the New Year. punk...the window box I've tried about everywhere in my house! I am sad that it did not fit on treadle sewing machine in the LR ...but it is 30" tall (22 wide)...so then I couldn't hang up that big old window w/B&W old Christmas family pics. I've worked at that window box this past yr buying the Old World Santa after sales...finding that slim tree this Fall & a brass rocking horse toy for in the box & painted over some ornies..so will have to keep looking for the perfect spot. It was too crowded by the tree & just didn't jive, I guess. ;-) nana...'tote' heaven, isn't it! I hate the mess of those plastic bins sitting around! ;-) & PM, I don't have a 'Jazz' living w/me...tee hee! I know you have a new puppy, too! Comments (14)I haven't tried the packets but I've had the green tea in the bottle. It was a little too sweet for me but you can probably adjust that with the packet...just not use as much. Great idea for the condiment wallet. And I call it a "glove box" too.....is there another name? I guess it should be called the "map, insurance verification, salt packets, pen and owner's manual box". LOLOL...See MoreLars
