Comments (15)Thank you everyone! Yes, we are expert painters now, well, I should say I am at least ;) And thanks for the compliments on the turquoise door! Everyone thought I was crazy for doing it (I'm pretty sure my husband still thinks I have a few screws loose), but I absolutely love it! (The paint is Behr's "Surfer" in high gloss in case anyone was wondering)....See MoreReflections Of The Past
Comments (11)I grew up in a small town in Ohio. Our drive was not paved, we put the ashes from the furnace on the drive in the winter. We also burned leaves on the drive way. Our chicken coop was not abandoned, no chickens; but it was used as dad's workshop and storage for garden things like strawberry baskets and bushel baskets for the pears and apples. Along with tools and fertilizers. I loved that place. We had a large veggie garden and had one deep freezer devoted to frozen veggies and a fruit cellar for canned items (pickles and pie filling). When products were in season, the phone would ring. one of the neighbors who 'ordering' corn or apples or berries or whatever was in season, and my sister and I would use our little red wagon to deliver the produce and collect the money. I don't know if that qualified as my first job. Once each autumn we split a cow with neighbors, we got about a side of beef. That went into the other deep freezer. That one was special because it also held our ice cream stash. The neighbors immediately north of us had been friendly with our family for many years. Using the back door, we never knocked, but walked right in. However, if using the front door, we were polite and knocked and waited. Jim...See MoreDo You Know These Classic Actors Quiz
Comments (37)rob, et al, I recognized the pic of Scott Eastwood as Clint's son, maybe because I'd just seen the dad's pic in the quiz line-up. It's interesting that we see different things--I thought the eyes were alike, but the eyebrows are different. I found a similar sized pic of Clint Eastwood, with a similar expression, and reversed the eyes for a mirror image:Click to enlarge. OT, but have you all seen Ulric Collette's genetic photography work? I love looking at the pics, and the similarities in his relative's faces. Scroll over the pics in the link to find out the relationship between the subjects: Genetic portraits...See MoreAnother old friend!
Comments (11)Awwwww,,,thanks Hyn !!! Such a nice thing to say! Oh my,,,,I almost hyperventilated when I saw the 2 leaves of Happy Harold. Oh and I forgot to mention I also bought a leaf of Willodene, and 2 leaves of Buckeye Sentimental Reasons! See, here is how this works in our group. Anyone can bring in leaves or babies of streps or violets (and I imagine other gesneriads but I will have to ask about that,,,,,I am still full of questions!!!) in baggies and they only cost $1.00 per baggie. The money goes to the club. WOW,,,,,what a great way to find treasures!!!! AND a good way to earn money for the group! Sorry your group is so far away. Yes it is fun and I am so glad I joined!!!
