As I matter of fact I do wear jewelry differently at my 2 homes! I can't stand cold metal touching me so I don't wear necklaces in the winter (from Nov to about March) at my regular home. And I wear one particular pair of earring almost all winter because they dangle but not long enough to touch my skin. Some of the longer ones end up touching my neck from my scarves & bulky coat so I avoid those. It's crazy but cold metal just sends a chill right through me and makes me feel colder. Since it's warmer in HHI, I do wear necklaces & earrings and even bracelets. I usually bring a few down with me so that I can have some variety. One necklace at a time, if it's bold than the earrings are smaller. One bracelet at a time and it depends on my sleeve length. In both places, I occasionally wear rings when I remember them. Your comments about gold & blue reminds me that I have an 18k gold ring with a lapis lazuli stone. I should dig that out and start wearing it again.

I just hope the bling-fashion passes soon. It looks trashy to my but what do I know? I'm a slightly overweight, 51 one year old with frizzy hair and bad knees. LOL Those hoops earring scare me. I worry they're gonna get something hung up on it and tear their ears. LOL My girls do love what they do and I love it too. I've learned it is far more satisfying watching my kids compete than it ever was for me. My husband and I have GOT to get out of the habit of making horses for our girls. LOL We've got two five year old horses I've started on the barrels and I don't know why I did. LOL Custer said, when I told him I had Booger and Nancy patterned good, 'What are you thinking? I thought these two horses were for OUR old age?" LOL I just saw where Eye-Oh-Way Girl FINALLY bought her Ashley a horse. It's about time woman! That poor little girl has begged for...how many years...?... for a horse? I was just about to call child services on you, you know! LOL Thanks for the kudos guys! You make me feel good! Somewhere I have a picture of me, taken by a very good friend, last summer at a working cowhorse show. I look pretty darn good in it but she is a very talented photographer...LOL When I find it I'll post. Lori

Thanks for all the responses. I have a really nice gold watch that DH gave as a 20th anniverary gift. It doesn't get worn in the summer when I'm wearing my silver jewelery, because I switch to a stainless steel watch to go with the silver bracelet and neckchain I usually wear. But I know I'd be heartbroken if my gold watch was ever stolen when I'm not wearing it. So since the majority seem to think it's o.k. to wear both at the same time, I'm putting my gold watch back on and still wearing my silver bracelet on the other wrist!

I've worn a watch since I was grown up: don't remember the circumstances when I got my first one. En route home on furlough from my mission in Korea in 1957, I attended a conference near Geneva, Switzerland and came to know a young woman who worked in the World Council of Churches office there. She'd worked with a manufacturer of watches earlier and took me there to buy one. The name was "Jeanrichard" and as father's name was "Richard" and stepmother's "Jean" I was pleased. Dad didn't want the second that I bought: he, who always wore a watch, had one that pleased him ... but my youngest brother, also named "Richard" did, so he was pleased with it. A feature that they offered was that they needed no winding or batteries: there was a lever inside that wound their spring as one moved one's hands. I guess there was adequate storage, as they never lost time while one slept ... don't know if we ever let one sit still for an extended period to find out how long they kept the time. Don't recall how long it lasted: several years. I've had several since, usually Timex, and it's hard to find local watch repair places, to get the batteries replaced. My second last, the watch guy told me when it stopped not to replace the battery, as the insides were plastic and so badly worn that they weren't worth the cost of a battery. Daughter recently sent me her second gift of an Indiglo Timex, that lights up with the push of the crown to show the time in the dark ... and this frugal fella shed a couple of tears when viewing the postage fee of $U.S. 15.50 (about Cdn$20.00). ole joyful
