St. Patrick’s Day Green: 18 Rooms That Wear It Well
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a collection of fun rooms featuring vivid green
Green is having a moment — or should we say, a year. Not only was Greenery named Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2017, but Houzz’s research team has been seeing the color pop up on kitchen walls, backsplashes and even some kitchen cabinets. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, we couldn’t resist collecting a few rooms recently uploaded to Houzz that use this color in a fresh, appealing way. Read on for some green inspiration from rooms around the world.
1. Apple green sofas create a jolt of color in this high-ceilinged living space, otherwise dressed in neutral gray, white, glass and wood. The open lift-and-slide door offers a wide vista of the natural beauty typical of British Columbia, Canada.
2. Deep emerald walls form a dramatic backdrop for a Dallas room that, intriguingly, has very little green decor otherwise. The color repeats in a sliver of the navy, pink and red abstract painting, as well as in the accessory on the bedside table.
3. A pale avocado color coats the ceiling and walls of this unique London bedroom. More greens play a role in the camouflage blanket at the end of the bed, as well as in the print of the upholstered headboard.
4. The green cabinet brings a lively feeling to this Minneapolis bathroom. Cheerful green leaves on the wallpaper offer a reminder of spring.
6. A bold grass green vanity provides the single pop of color in an otherwise white en suite in Australia.
7. Various shades of green teamed with black and white create a graphic wall and floor mural in this Melbourne, Australia, bathroom. The green countertop inset has a different but complementary pattern.
8. Dusty green wallpaper with a traditional floral print mixes with classic elements — the free-standing tub, pedestal sink and ornate mirror — to create an updated old-world feel in this Berlin bathroom.
9. Bright green drapes enliven this dining room in a Dallas home. The gray walls and dining chair upholstery temper the vividness of the green.
10. Green paired with yellow forms a warm and welcoming palette in this traditional kitchen in a Victorian home.
11. A pea-soup-green wall decked out in mathematical formulas perhaps serves as an inspiring sight for the occupant of this pared-down home office in Moscow.
12. An architecturally unique home in Bangalore, India, features green in this bedroom. The white capsule near the center is a bed pod, which contains a mattress as well as a television set.
13. Double chartreuse canopy beds and patterned wallpaper bring the colors of the garden into this bedroom on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York. Floral prints carry on the theme.
14. Mottled olive wallpaper with pale teal peacocks creates the foundation of a dramatic vignette in this New York City penthouse.
15. Tropical aqua graces the walls of this eclectic home in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
16. Glossy green stripes on the ceiling and walls frame this mirrored, modern vignette in a home in Moscow.
17. The green of this elegant San Francisco mudroom has a bit of a retro vibe, but the shapes keep the room feeling current. The paint color is named as a blue, but in this room as well as in its swatch, it actually veers quite green.
