Remodel Completed but we still need Window Treatment HELP
We recently completed a remodel and have 3 BIG (to me) items that need to be finalized and I am in need of your thoughts / advice, please. I will post each item separately.
1. Window coverings - we previously had the honeycomb style that did top down / bottom up. Windows were replaced and are a bit larger with the ability to open from the bottom.
Big chairs will be replaced with barrel style swivel chairs
At present we do not need coverings for the kitchen window but may change our mind down the road.

The width of the area I'm working with makes things very challenging, doesn't it? val -- the advantage to your idea of roller shades is not having to worry about any cords hanging down. I did look at something called a solar shade at one time, but I think I may want a softer look. les -- one of my first thoughts was to use some type of pleated or honeycomb shade (because they are available without cords) along with a valance to hide them, just as you suggested, but somewhere along my thought process, I thought it would be nice to have some kind of single-panel panels to soften that side of the room. I probably should let that idea go because it may not be the best solution for the area, especially considering the limited amount of clearance I have to the right. We have Silhouettes in the LR, which I love, so if I have the Luminettes in the FR, that may flow nicely thru the house. One of my concerns about the Luminettes, tho, is when they're open, I wonder how much space I would have to allow for them to stack. deborah -- maybe you can answer my question about how tightly the Luminettes stack when open. sally -- do you also have the Luminettes? parma -- thanks for the pictures. We don't get The Sun Times, we get The Tribune. I looked at the paper's website, but couldn't find the article. I'll try the Divine Design website. The thing is I don't really want a lot at the windows and after having nothing there for such a long time, anything will seem like a lot to me, I think. I still want to have them very open during the day, especially on a day like today with all the snow we're getting. We have some very large pine trees in our yard that look so pretty in the snow. Comments (17)Another source to look is jcp.com. I noticed they have 3 blackout drapes (one in regular home WT section and 2 in clearance) in the longer length at low prices--if the colors work for you (always the challenge). If you can't find the grommet style that might be easier to pull open/shut on a daily basis, you might consider ring clips since they slide easily. If the hem looks too challenging to alter on rod pocket styles, you can cut off the top and rehem that quite easily. IMHO they'll look best if you have them full length, rather than end at the window sill. It seems like that would really detract from the effect of the window. Even your inspiration pic, while really cute, seems to just miss the mark a bit on the curtains. They're ok I guess, but full-length would have been better--IMHO. You may have to get extra panels to give the fullness you want across the window when they're closed unless you go with custom widths. Good luck with your project! Comments (34)Rebeccamom, there are so many people with the same dilemma, we should start a "show me your kitchen window" thread. I also have a finished kitchen with a naked window. While these are my backyard neighbors, I also live in New England and the window feels stark when the leaves come down. I just purchased Levolor cellular white blinds which they custom cut at the store and are really reasonable. It is still in the box and awaiting DH's next day off. I thought it would still give me the naked look, but could pull it down on those cold evenings that have already started. Comments (1)Window treatments DO NOT have to be the same for every window and room. Style wise they should match in the sense that you don't want one window to have ultra modern curtains and another to have super traditional ones. It's hard to give you specific advice without seeing the windows or rooms but roman shades are pretty universally liked and have a variety of styles and colors that work with just about any home style....See Moretayler5

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoElecltic is a mix of things that would not normally work together but some how when done properly is weirdly cool I think for me your space should just stay in the MCM vibe that is why I mentioned the chairs and the clock you really need good lighting and some decent sized lamps on the end tables is where I would start if the sofa can move than maybe one table between the 2 chairs in the window and one at the end of the sofa. You do realize to have those chairs reupholstered will cost as much as new ones so maybe take hubby shopping.This pattern maybe not these colors might be a nice one for th roman shades since you don’t have much pattern anywhere
I would remove the boxes and the piece on the left from those cabinets
