Comments (5)Go to a store nearby and ask if they have scraps or single rolls that a customer has brought back in that pattern but that is doubtful as wallpaper is sold in double rolls. It's actually more economical to the consumer and the industry that way secondary to a lot of factors, but that is the bottom line for all of us. There was a time when it was sold in triple rolls. If a friend has some left over from a job, that might be a good source but a double roll on the clearance counter at a wallpaper store would be your best bet as it is usually just marked at the UPS or post office for shipping since they cannot retrieve their money and just want their shipping costs back....See Moretell me about wallpaper....
Comments (10)Take a look at what banks have up on their walls. Sherwin Williams usually has books with commercial wallpaper.....usually it's vinyl, low sheen, with some sort of fabric back...extremely durable. Patterns are usually subtle, mostly textured.. Many of the commercial 'papers' come in very wide widths which are difficult for a DIYer without extensive experience, but that may depend on the lengths you would need. You might look for a grasscloth look which seems to stand up to some handling. I've had a grasscloth vinyl up in a long narrow hallway standing up to packages, grandchildren, dogs for almost 15 years and it looks brand new. If it were paint it would have had to have been redone several times....See MoreWallpaper in the Bathroom
Comments (68)I love wallpaper and have it in most of the rooms in my house. Some of it has been there for decades and is still in excellent condition. Having said this, I have told my children that when they haul me out of here, dead or alive, to remove all the wallpaper before putting the house up for sale. People are terrified of removing wallpaper - think it will destroy the walls (if drywall and not properly primed, it might!), or will cost a fortune to remove. So I told them to only leave the wallpaper in two bathrooms - both are done in a Farrow & Ball strie paper and they make the two baths. As to wallpaper and using it in a bath or kitchen. One is no longer limited to "kitchen/bath vinyl wallpaper. I chose a gorgeous french documentary paper for my kitchen when we were moving here in 1984. I was worried about using it as a backsplash in my kitchen (which is what one did in those days), and a rep in the Brunschwig & Fils showroom in LA, told me to just send it to ResistFlame in Cincinnati. They would coat it with vinyl and I'd be good to go. I did this and have done it many times since. One has a choice of matte finish (my choice) or glossy, and it can be single/double/triple coated depending on the wear/tear one expects it to have to endure. I've always done single coating and that has been fine. It is totally wipeable/scrubable with a Dobie pad. The company is so easy to work with - I usually just have the paper drop-shipped directly to them. They coat the paper and then ship it to me. It's really quite reasonably priced....See MoreCurtain advice to pair well with Wallpaper
Comments (94)Just FYI, bamboo shades, at night, when drawn and indoor lights are on, might as well not be there as far as being see-through. I know, I had them. Can be lined though. Although I loved the green, I have to say that the white walls since they don't compete, really bring out the beauty of the wallpaper. Does that print come in fabric? If not, I'd go with something in a solid, nice fabric maybe suede texture, that matches one of the neutral colors in the wallpaper. Beth H. had some FANTASTIC inspiration ideas. Let your art and cool mix of furniture and accessories be the star, not the drapes. Or find a gorgeous matching natural texture fabric and make some, but off-the-rack drapes are mostly pft. nowdays....See Moretartanmeup
