I love the style of this kitchen/breakfast area. Although I’m afraid it wouldn’t work with the chrome that I’ve already started using?

I think it'll be fine with chrome-and it repeats a bit of "gold" in your tile

Generally I like them..not sure about fabric shades right over the busy working area

I love fabric shades, I've fabric shade in my own dining-but it's still further away from kitchen, and sink, and potentiall mess, etc.

But if doesn't worry you-the light can be very nice-soft and flattering and bright enough. I'd put them on dimmers in any case, if you can.

Check carefully the dimensions of every light fixture you're looking into..these seem pretty long, for example. What's your ceilng height?

The ceilings are 9 ft. I didn’t think about fabric over the sink getting dirty. I’m sure they are of my price range anyway. But, I do like the style. I also like this house, but again it’s gold.

Hopefully our floors will be replaced in a couple of years with wood.

I am a little concerned about too much black, white, gray, and chrome feeling cold. Also, this is my foyer pendant so the first ones probably wouldn’t work.

There’s also a built-in desk in the breakfast area that I am thinking about painting a dark warm gray. There is no tile under it so I can’t remove it now.

I think I just felt like I should limit it to three metals for consistency. We have oil rubbed bronze doorknobs, chrome in the bathrooms, and gold accents so far.

when we bought the house it had 6 different kinds of tile, carpet, parquet, gold, chrome, brushed nickel, pewter, oil rubbed bronze, and 3 different colors of cabinets. Not to mention 2 painted sinks, stained glass, fruit tile, and a mirror backsplash.

I hear you. We also have orb doorknobs and chrome in baths. I used orb pendants and cabinet hardware in my kitchen (though it’s nearly black) and chrome faucets.

I think you should get what you like. Then again, I debated the same thing as we have a lantern style in our entry and decided to go with completely different lighting.

So I still haven’t chosen pendants. I feel like I need to choose a light fixture to replac

e the fan in the breakfast area first So that I can make sure that they coordinate. It feels very crowded, but I don’t know what else to do with that space other than a breakfast area. Maybe a round table? There are 5 of us so that wouldn’t seat everyone, but we do have a dining room. I’d love to hear other ideas. The desk can’t go until I can replace the floors.

I’m thinking about this chandelier if I can comfortably fit a table. I’m not really sure what pendants would look good with it though. Probably something simple.

The fixtures you choose over the island shoudnt be more than 8'' wide, everything your looking at is too oversized. mixing metal is just fine so don't worry about matching because one chrome to another is never the same anyway lol.

Also they are the only light in that area so don't go with a decorative bulb go with a frosted white glass or metal that will help force the light where you need it and that area looks pretty dark, maybe that will help narrow you down.

Yes that narrows it down quite a bit! I really like the ones with the shade from my inspiration picture, but I can’t find anything similar in the right size or in my price range (under $125).
