Comments (4)Suggest you go to a lighting store. Two national chains are Lamps Plus, and Lights Fantastic. You may have local lighting companies. On an 8' island, I would suggest three pendants. In decorating circles, odd numbers are preferable....See MoreIsland pendants need help choosing, please
Comments (11)Badgergal, your Otto pendants are beautiful and look so great with your tile BS. I noticed the height difference in your reveal post -- looks good. Pricklypear, I've debated the curvy track a lot. This island lighting issue is going to give me an ulcer, lol. Amanda, thanks, I like both Tech pendants too. When you say I should pay for more holes, do you mean I should use those pendants without a track? GWlolo, believe me, I have been shopping around a lot for track systems. Because of our vaulted ceiling, which is 10' high above the island, I need a system that has 2' rigid supports as an option. That seems to eliminate most companies. We were originally going with a Bruck system with their Rome pendant, but my designer did not like their cable supports and how many would be required. (Plus, the cost was not any lower.) Hosenemesis, I'm glad to hear you like the Dervish too. I think 3 of them would be too much for an 8' island. Just to clarify, I am trying to decide between using 3 smaller pendants, like the 5" diameter Tech pendants, or 2 larger (15" or 22" diameter) pendants, like the Dervish. I welcome more comments on which option is better for an 8' x 4.5' island. TIA!...See MoreDoes anyone have these pendants? help me choose please...
Comments (21)I have a dining room chandelier with clear glass hurricanes on each of five arms. I put them through the dishwasher occasionally and dust when the spirit moves me. If the fixture were hanging in kitchen in the constant line of sight dusting would require more attention. I've put matte white glass pendants in my kitchen and am very glad--I know I need to dust when I feel the dust with fingers, not when I see it with eyes. My guests and family are less likely to notice. What about a non-globe fixture, something with an upturned faux candle aspect to it? There have been stunning ones used in GW kitchens. You can put bare or frosted bulbs in, depending on preference....See MoreHelp me choose Pendant lighting! Backsplash ideas also needed!
Comments (16)Thanks for the suggestions! I will be getting my Vetro B/S sample today (there was a mix up with the supplier.) I really hope I like it because I am really getting kitchen reno fatigue and don't want to keep searching for the right B/S. It's been chaos juggling work, kids and dragging my kids to endless trips to Home Depot, granite, lighting, etc. stores!! Fortunately, we have a much needed vacation next week! The discus pendant is nice, but at 10" in diameter, I think a bit big for my kitchen. Any other ideas? I have no clue what I even like in pendants?? I am considering a brushed nickel b/c of the hardware/SS appliances but also think maybe something glass or crystal would be nice. any other suggestions??? Thanks!!...See Morelisarh04
