It is fashionable right now to hang curtains higher but it's harder to find the longer panels at many stores. My Mom always had her curtains made, though she could have done them herself, so that when they were open they barely covered the woodwork. That way you have maximum light exposure and view. Again not necessary but nice. Since you have your's hung from clip rings I'd recommend extending the rods to their fullest potential, without weakening their strength, and hanging a few of the clip rings outside the bracket where it is attached now. Again I don't think it's necessary to raise them. Unless you have someone that can repair wall board without it showing where the brackets were before, I'd not move them. They look very nice where they are in my opinion. Hollygarden's idea of sewing your own is a great idea if you can do so for less than it would cost to buy them or can't find what you want ready made. I used to make all our window treatments and we've moved allot so I've made more than I can remember. Even made some for my Mom's kitchen twice. Fabric stores aren't the only place to loook for fabric. I've used sheets and even table clothes as fabric for curtains. It's longer and wider than you can get in just about everything but muslin by the yard and you can find them at so many more places. You could also incorporate these panels if you found the same type of fabric in a solid to match one of their colors. I'm in the process of finding panels for our ladies parlor and will be heading to JC Penneys tomorrow afternoon to see in person something I found online that I've been drooling over the past two days. I hope we both get lucky in our searches.

Your living room couch is absolutely gorgeous. I'm sorry, but I just can't see pink slipper chairs in that room. I would make the chairs the same color as the couch in order to not make the couch look like the odd man out. A few comfortable chairs and perhaps a love seat along the far wall in a similar style and material to the couch would make for a warmer, more inviting look. The carpet, although beautiful, does rather limit the colors you can use in that room. In the dining room the taupe chairs and gray walls actually look great together. You don't want everything matchy matchy. This is a much more sophisticated look. I'm afraid I'm no help with the curtains in the living room. To me the safest option would be to make them the same color as the couch. You could introduce color with some great art on the walls. I don't know if you like abstract art, but in that room the right pieces would look very good. I imagine you're not at that stage yet, but something to think about. Of course everything should speak to you and your taste; I'm just offering random suggestions. You have a lovely home which will be stunning when it's completely furnished and decorated.

A sideboard or buffet is just a low cabinet. If you have room to move your wine cabinet, that would be great. It would also make the wine cabinet more visible from the entrance and your kitchen. It would be nice to have curtains on all the windows but it's not a major issue. I think you will like the look of the curtains so much that you'll eventually add some on the other windows. Like Judy mentioned, i would try to find a nice textured linen look panel for your windows. There are all different shades of neutrals so before you press the curtains and put them up, have someone hold them up by the window to make sure you like the color.
