I like the panels you have now, they bring color of both rooms together beautifully. My guess is you can't get anymore though, right?

Justgotabeme, thanks for your support on my colors. You are correct. I only bought the one pair and cannot get anymore of that pattern. I am wondering if they need to be hung higher up and maybe more to the sides of the windows...the length should be to be longer, I almost believe as well....I will take a look at JCP.

eagertopaint - I think your instincts are right. A little higher and more to the sides, so that your windows look bigger.

Those panels work because they have the blue of the dining room and the beige of the adjoining room both in the pattern. I would continue to look for something that still has those two colors.

I usually make my own panels. They are simple to make, if you sew at all, and you can find so much more material choices that way. Good luck! :)

It is fashionable right now to hang curtains higher but it's harder to find the longer panels at many stores. My Mom always had her curtains made, though she could have done them herself, so that when they were open they barely covered the woodwork. That way you have maximum light exposure and view. Again not necessary but nice.
Since you have your's hung from clip rings I'd recommend extending the rods to their fullest potential, without weakening their strength, and hanging a few of the clip rings outside the bracket where it is attached now. Again I don't think it's necessary to raise them.
Unless you have someone that can repair wall board without it showing where the brackets were before, I'd not move them. They look very nice where they are in my opinion.
Hollygarden's idea of sewing your own is a great idea if you can do so for less than it would cost to buy them or can't find what you want ready made.
I used to make all our window treatments and we've moved allot so I've made more than I can remember. Even made some for my Mom's kitchen twice. Fabric stores aren't the only place to loook for fabric. I've used sheets and even table clothes as fabric for curtains. It's longer and wider than you can get in just about everything but muslin by the yard and you can find them at so many more places.
You could also incorporate these panels if you found the same type of fabric in a solid to match one of their colors.
I'm in the process of finding panels for our ladies parlor and will be heading to JC Penneys tomorrow afternoon to see in person something I found online that I've been drooling over the past two days. I hope we both get lucky in our searches.

I think the panel color looks fine. But if your gonna switch them out I'ld suggest staying in the earth tones. Goes good against the blue and ties in well with the dinning room chairs. I agree it should be mounted a little higher an wider. I think it can be dressed up by using a tan color wood rod with wood brackets and wood rings. Then I would mount it about 6 inches above the trim. As a finishing touch you can add tiebacks. This that would create a warm elegant look.
For something totally different . Strip all the treatments off and install silhouettes with a pole swag valance and jabots. But make the jabots longer on the outside and shorter on the inside. Different style but still create a warm elegant look. Good Luck
