I just don't know whether silk might be too formal for our decor, but it's something I've always wanted and love to see in other people's homes. I think your dining room has the type of feel where silk or velvet panels would enhance all the work that has already been done. I could make them myself, but at these prices what I could order and sew myself couldn't compete. I just priced out what it would cost me to order the silk fabric and lining fabric to make them myself and these prices were within dollars of my actual cost - so I'm sorely tempted to let someone else do the work and treat myself for Mother's Day! I've never owned any "store-bought" curtains before, and I have no idea whether this company is any good, but it seems worth it to give it a try. That's a lovely room. I like your wall color. What color is it? Are you putting a rug in there? I think those drapes would look nice, but if you're planning on getting a rug, I'd probably get that first so they didn't clash. Since your light fixture has black metal, I'd probably go with a black metal rod.

I'm with Marcolo for all the reasons stated and, because at night with 2 full walls of draperies closed, it will look warm and feel warm, and all that fabric will add softness not only to the look, but the sound of the room as well, making it feel much more cozy. A valance will hide that and will make the room look a lot less like a sun porch and more like a room. From what I'm seeing, drapes blocking some of the view won't hurt as it looks like on one side, it would block more of the deck than anything else. Hey There: Window Coverings and the design of the house must go together and furthermore you must keep the function in mind. In you case I do recommend to layer the window coverings... As I can see in your pictures, you might have a privacy problem if your don't close your coverings, but of course your don't want to sit all day in the dark. So as a first line of defense (literally spoken of course) you go with minimalistic pleated or honeycomb shades. They fit nicely into the window casing and operate bottom up and top down. This will give you privacy and light management and allow you to look outside and enjoy nature around your home. As the second layer you can opt for curtains to the side - either operable or just decorative. This combination is not to heavy to take over the rooms.
