help with window treatments & decor for dining room

we have a very bare (but transitional style) dining room. i'm trying to figure out window treatments and i'm hoping i can get some good suggestions from you guys. I'm planning on drapes, but not sure of color, fabric, solid/pattern, pole connection, etc. sorry i don't have a better picture of the window full on but you get the idea.

one of the styles i'm considering is:

not sure if it's too casual or loud. thoughts? would silk be too formal for my style of dining room?

That's a lovely room. I like your wall color. What color is it? Are you putting a rug in there? I think those drapes would look nice, but if you're planning on getting a rug, I'd probably get that first so they didn't clash. Since your light fixture has black metal, I'd probably go with a black metal rod.

Hey There: Window Coverings and the design of the house must go together and furthermore you must keep the function in mind. In you case I do recommend to layer the window coverings... As I can see in your pictures, you might have a privacy problem if your don't close your coverings, but of course your don't want to sit all day in the dark. So as a first line of defense (literally spoken of course) you go with minimalistic pleated or honeycomb shades. They fit nicely into the window casing and operate bottom up and top down. This will give you privacy and light management and allow you to look outside and enjoy nature around your home. As the second layer you can opt for curtains to the side - either operable or just decorative. This combination is not to heavy to take over the rooms. Stay in lighter colors but don't match them...lighter for the blinds and a bit darker for the curtains. Good Luck with your project www.PleatedBlindsStore.com

My advice would be to go on Houzz and start some idea books to figure what your style is . Right now all you will get is dozens of ideas that will keep you more confused than ever. We need info to help with this.

Look at linens, tone-on-tone, solids. Lots of choices. Look at theshadestore.com. You can order free samples of fabrics you like. I would not do 2 panels on your windows they are narrow and the panels would cover the entire area between the windows thus covering your beautiful wainscoting. Your wallpaper and rug are heavy so go for a lighter room brightening window treatment

I do think a pattern will work. The first thing I thought of was soft textured pleated white drapes. Keep is simple but elegant. Beautiful furnishings. I don't have a rug in my DR either.

Love your room color and wainscoting... have you considered plantation shutters...you can still do drapery panels on each side. They would be amazing painted to match your trim. I think silk is fine with any styke.

the color is rustic taupe (ben moore). not getting a rug. thanks for the advice so far.
