What window treatments in dining/living rooms?
Comments (38)If I had shades like the ones from handwerk in that off white color would I get the stencil? and put a stencil on the curtains? I think stencil on both would be too much. Plain shade and stencil curtains or stencil shade and plain curtains? The other issue is color. If the shade is an off white color what would the curtains be? I don't think it's in this thread but one of my favorite places, Roycroft inn has black shades and then curtains with a leaf pattern. Looks really cool but I can't find a photo. The photo I took doesn't show the blackness of the shade. Off white shade with black curtains? Annette I just reread your post. So plain shade and then stencil the curtains? My concern would be they would both be off white (except for the stencil part). How would that go together? Trying to find a photo showing a shade and curtains together....See MoreWhat kind of window treatment do you suggest for Living Room
Comments (4)Thanks guys..Maybe I'll put this project on hold since it seems it's not as bad as I thought. I was thinking a valance of some sort, just to add some color to the area. I lived here for 9 years with no treatments really throughout. THanks for your input...See MoreLooking for ideas for window treatments for my dining room

The room is very linear and a large green plant and a round or oval centerpiece would help to correct that....See MoreWhat type of window treatment for dining room?
Comments (3)*shutters ("shudder" = tremble or quiver) I'd choose panel drapes to stack off each side of the window. You could do blinds or shutters also (match color to the trim). You have hundreds of options for drapery color/pattern since you don't have any other patterns in the room. Choose something that brings in some of the red from the walls....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
