Need help with finishing touches to Dining room
Comments (17)You obviously enjoy restricted palette..I'd add texture and subtle variations of same colors rather than something completely different..you can always change that later if the mood strikes, but for now I can see you like this traditional, calm vibe..reminds me of old Swedish interiors.. I'd add rug, curtains(good advice was given before on taking them as high as you can), a mirror..some rough texture, some velvet or maybe linen, some sparkle and shine..... Again, don't try to match it too hard in terms of the colors-the colors will look slightly different on each texture, and it's a good thing-it adds depth, otherwise the room might feel flat. A plant will bring freshness to the room. They always do)) Now where I would add color-some art. You can depart from your calm vibe there if you wish-almost any great painting or drawing would work. Congratulations on your new place!!...See MoreNeed help with coffee table and finishing touches
Comments (6)I would skip the additional chairs. That's a big sectional. Instead, I would do a rectangle for the coffee table as already suggested, but instead of glass(that does look beautiful) , maybe would go with an upholstered ottoman plus tray on it-additional sitting place when needed, table when needed, etc. Very versatile, and cozy too. Of course depends on how casual you want the room to feel. To me, TV=casual It won't be as visually light as a glass table though, that's true I have this setup myself in my family room-it's extremely convenient and mm..user-friendly)) If you decide to go this route-i'd pick an upholstery in pattern, or just different color than black, preferably light(pattern is very forgiving though) The chair you have now does seem a bit lost, due to its smaller scale...See MoreMy new kitchen needs help with finishing touches!
Comments (15)I would not worry about the backsplash as it's fine as it is. Rather I'd put the large decorative platter in the blue/green that you like above the cooktop where the star is now. Rather than the bowl in the corner that only shows its neutral side, get something that again reinforces the color theme...ceramic cookie jar or whatever. But be deliberate about the accessories and mindful of scale. You don't want a bunch of small things, but one or two impactful things that reinforce your color theme. I would not worry about the space by the slider...let that be. It's part of the traffic area to get out the door and it's better left unobstructed. You'll want the focal point to be the wall behind table anyway, and the view out the slider. So with that, make sure the art over the sideboard goes with your blue and green, and then add some of that color to the dining room table as well...be it a table runner, accessories on top, candles, whatever. To make a color theme work, it needs to be sprinkled about, used at least 3 times in different places around the rooms....See MoreNeed help with finishing touches in family room.
Comments (78)thanks all! Pic attached of the nested tables turned to the side and the answers to some of the questions I got from you all. The nested tables are definitely functional. We used them right away but I can probably find better. The arm of the sofa is 23 inches and the nested table is 23 inches so in terms of size I think they work but maybe just a better style? I plan to change the lamp. (again I think I can find something better) and I continue to search for the right ottoman, wall art and ceiling light fixture. I think I might attempt black and white photos of my family in black frames like Grover has the layout that was posted. I picked up some other accessories (see 2nd pic) The TV still needs to come down. I am trying desperately to avoid window treatments and or wait until the end so make my decision on that. I want something very simple. maybe bamboo shades?...See Moregrapefruit1_ar
