Need help with coffee table and finishing touches

Can you help with ideas to finish up my family room?

I know I need a coffee table but I just don't know what will look best or the size/shape of the table. I would like to keep it more 'modern' rather than more 'rustic' if that makes sense. I was thinking a white stone top with chrome base but I don't know if this would be too much contrast for my brown sectional?

Also, I am thinking about adding another chair? Does the current chair look ok or should I move it to another room and replace with non-tufted one? Where would I place them if I get two? I am at a loss on how to 'finish' the space, accessories, art, pillows, lamp, etc. I do like the neutral colors with the pops of color spread around.

Please help if you can :)

The chair looks awkward by itself and it's "blocking" that corner. What about 2 matching chairs perpendicular to sectional with that end table in between? Would there still be room to walk behind the chairs? I like the coffee table that nosoccermom posted above. You def need rectangle to fill the space and so everyone can reach it if needed.

What a lovely room : ) . I agree with rebeccamomof123 that given the windows and window placement in your room, Roman shades would be much better than curtains. On the double set of windows, I'd use a Roman shade on just the bottom, possibly one longer shade across all three. I think, without measurements or being in the room, three smaller shades might look a little fussy. What's your vision for the room? I think it can work equally well with a more monochromatic look or with some added color (which would be my own preference). Decide which you like and go from there (and you can always change it up throughout the year if you want to). The less color you want, the more texture you'll need (the others above who are suggesting more texture in the room are right!). The problem is that you bought a suite of matching furniture, so the room, while lovely, looks rather like a catalogue shoot / furniture showroom / hotel room. Just a few things, like a nice comfortable armchair with a lumbar cushion and throw instead of the little lonely living room chair, a throw on the bed and some varied bedding, art on the walls, a few pretty items on top of the dressers -- an orchid or fern, picture frame, vase -- will make a big difference.

I love the colors of the little lumbar pillow on your lounge chair. It incorporates the blues and the turquoise colors that your space calls for, and echoes the color of your pool water. I’d look right now for outdoor synthetic rugs in a natural color to ground your space (think faux sea grass banded in navy or indigo), and then get more bright blue pillows for your furniture. Navy blue pots planted with seasonal flowers, accessories....you have a lovely space!

What a beautiful living room you have made. The credenza under your TV is particularly gorgeous. Here is what I would consider doing if this were my room- just to give you ideas to play off of for a start. I would begin by finding some blue, patterned throw pillows for the sofa and the arm chair. I like Indian block prints. They are classic and fresh. What I have shown is not exactly bargain, Target/Home Goods, but aside from the Ginori, it's not terribly expensive either. Here are some from John Robshaw: And for the blue arm chair, I thought something like this could be fun: Next I would find an orchid or cyclamen for the table by the blue arm chair. I am partial to cyclamens, so here: I would look for a silver cachepot. Here is a simple one from The Enchanted Home. I like how the silver echoes your side table by the sofa. I would like a much simpler/more modern silver cachepot, this is all I could find right now. Then for the coffee table, I would find a few pretty and interesting coffee table books: Assouline, Phaedon, Taschen, Rizzoli all have great, colorful, conversation sparking titles available. It is very common to put stuff on top of books on coffee tables. That is not my thing. I would rather just see something pretty next to the stack of books. Maybe a bowl or a vase in this Ginori pattern (Orientale in azalea): Lastly the table between the sofa and arm chair could use a lamp perhaps. I would look for something sculptural in crystal. Like this from Horchow: Your room is lovely and will come together more and more over time. Don't rush yourself. Wait to find things that really speak to you, so that you infuse the room with your personality.

I love these ideas. We just moved and sadly have a limited budget though. What would make a big impact for minimal cost? I am am thinking a large art piece above the sofa with more neutral pillows, moving the starbursts vertically between the windows. Simplifying the decor on the bookcase too. My fiancé’s going to freak with all the new nail holes I need to work with the bookcase and coffee table, but can probably swap those end tables. It’s too much Glass definitely. Those two paintings are from my favorite artist Janet Hill. I’d like to keep them in the room but could move them to the slanted wall and maybe even add an art light to them? Any other ideas?

I think the chair looks fine, maybe just move it in closer to FP. If you replace it, you could do two, one on each side of the FP. I love the room....it feels restful & inviting & those windows are wonderful with the view out. I like the coffee table posted above....beautiful home you have there!

Where can I get a coffee table similar to the one nosoccermom posted? Would one be enough? The front of the sectional measures 60x110.

I do not think two chairs of that size would fit perpendicular to the sectional and still leave space for walking behind. If I do two chairs one of each side of the FP, then does each chair need a small table next to it? Would this be awkward?

What do you think of two chairs similar to this? Would it make everything to dark or not?

I would skip the additional chairs. That's a big sectional. Instead, I would do a rectangle for the coffee table as already suggested, but instead of glass(that does look beautiful) , maybe would go with an upholstered ottoman plus tray on it-additional sitting place when needed, table when needed, etc. Very versatile, and cozy too.

Of course depends on how casual you want the room to feel. To me, TV=casual

It won't be as visually light as a glass table though, that's true

I have this setup myself in my family room-it's extremely convenient and mm..user-friendly))

If you decide to go this route-i'd pick an upholstery in pattern, or just different color than black, preferably light(pattern is very forgiving though)

The chair you have now does seem a bit lost, due to its smaller scale

As for accessories-I'd definitely bring a bunch of throw pillows-they'll break the expanse of the sectional..and they're very useful for when watching TV too. I know many people that dislike throw pillows..all of them seem to forget it when they come to our place and watch TV..)) Throws are also both useful and pretty.

nosoccermom's pics give a good idea on accessorizing

BTW thank you for mentioning the sectional is brown..was sure it's black until I re-read your post.
