Need help with Master Closet layout
Comments (7)Keep in mind that hanging clothes take 2' of space, so the way the closet is drawn is a bit misleading with the spaces marked 'rod and shelf'. (The line is where the rod is, but the clothes will stick out about another foot.) Also, where perpendicular rods meet in the corner, there is dead space that can't be accessed if clothes are hung to the maximum width. So, as drawn with 'rod and shelf' on 3 sides, the space would be a bit like the top left mockup below, with purple being hanging space and orange lines being dead space. With the door as drawn, I would be inclined to dedicate the whole back wall to hanging rod(s). Then the opposite wall could be for shallow shelves or shoe racks. Keep in mind that you can't anchor anything into the wall that houses the pocket door. (Also that wall will be thicker than typical.) (Top right pic.) If you can reorient the door to the bottom wall, you'll have two long walls for hanging clothes and shallow storage (bottom pic.) Not sure if that's possible or desirable; some folks like walking through the bathroom to get to the closet and some don't. In any case I'd use the top wall for a wall hung mirror. And sorry, I didn't include your dresser. CAVEAT: These are noodlings from a non-expert! I'd take your drawing to someplace like the Container Store and see if they have some clever ideas....See MoreLayout Help! Master Bedroom,Ensuite,Closet
Comments (16)The bathroom is spread out so much ... by simplifying that space, you can get the two separate doors you want, enlarge the closet so you have ample space for the make-up area in the closet. Consider: - The tub and shower work well side-by-side because they're the same depth. - The vanity would be about 8' long, so you could arrange it in multiple ways ... I'd put in a narrow linen tower or closet. - The toilet tucks in behind the vanity ... possibly behind a pony wall, which is so much more functional than the toilet being smashed into a closet. - You have a window as a sight line dead-ahead from the door. - With the bathroom more compact, the closet is enlarged, and the bedroom door now has space to "park" against the wall without covering the closet door. - I placed the make-up area straight ahead of the closet door ... presumably you'll have a large mirror here, and it'll make for a bright sight line upon entering the closet. Since this is placed against the bathroom wall, you could have a small sink here without big expense. - This closet is large and wide, and you could arrange the hanging rods /drawers in any number of ways ... and with all this width, you could have a seating ottoman (with storage inside) in the middle of the closet....See MoreNew Master Suite bath/closet layout, Help!!
Comments (6)Your layout looks like it works, although I don't know about dimensions. I'm wondering if you can eliminate the hallway into your room and the room above your bath, to incorporate all that extra space into your rooms....See MoreNeed help with master bath and walk in closet layout
Comments (2)Nobody can help from those pictures. Nobody can help without a floor plan drawn accompanied by all dimensions. More importantly, it seems you are ripping/ hacking up a house with no plan, no architect, no nothing . Not a great idea. Get an architect on board for the best result. ..........along with a certified KD/BD....See Morezibbe
