what kind of paint for stairs?
Comments (3)Yeah, the "Porch & Floor" category is where you need to be. At an ACE store, they have a nice "P&F" in a Satin latex, or a glossy Oil. Faron...See Morelatex or Chalk paint 4 stencil dining table
Comments (3)I have used Annie Sloan chalk paint and love it, and I've also used latex. I don't use poly as I don't care for the look. I have used BriWax that I had on hand in both light and dark brown for my projects and it's very protective. Are you stenciling a design directly on the (assuming) wood grain table top, or are you painting the table and then stenciling? On this recent project, I used Ben Moore Symphony Blue latex paint and little jars of acrylic metallic craft paint for the gold fleur de lis. It has the light and dark wax on it for an antique look, in keeping with the age of the piece. I might save the chalk paint for an item you use without feeling you need to poly it, as it has such a 'soft' look on its own that is very nice. See the difference in the blue paint color once the dark wax is used? Only the drawer fronts have been waxed in the pic, and all the rest of the blue is just the paint at that point....See MoreBathroom Color Scheme, my brain hurts (really long)
Comments (8)Oh, forgot to mention that tonight when I was working over there, I had an accident. I have paper runners laid down to keep the freshly varnished floors clean (I have 2 more coats to do and don't want them all tracked up). Anyway, as old homes do, there is a huge square hole in the floor of my bedroom where the cold air return is. Yup, you guessed it, I fell right in. The paper was laid over it and I walked right in to it. I busted the duct underneath and had a hard time pulling myself out. Ironically I hurt the leg that didn't go in far worse than the one that did. The one that fell through got all cut up from the duct but the other one took the force of the fall on the wood floor and my ankle is twisted and my knee is black. I really love this house because you know what, I don't care. :) It's all good. In a couple weeks I can rest my weary broken body in my new home!!! The accident, however, does prevent me from going to the decorating store tommorow and finding inspiration for everything. I'll probably spend half the day with ice on the knee and the other half hobbling around talking to my friend who is coming to take measurements to move the toilet over for me....See MorePICS - Newly Painted Powder Room
Comments (31)Gosh you guys, I feel like the Queen for the day. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I know I tend to march to the beat of a different drum so I'm glad that you all are enjoying it as much as I do. I absolutely love, love, love my new bathroom. I actually smile everytime I go in there. I'm also pleased that I stepped out of my comfort zone and went with the silver instead of my usual gold. I know that the paint was a metalic paint from Sherwin Williams. I will find out exactly what kind it was. I have to say that I have learned so much from you guys and that definitely encouraged me to do something different. So my next action item, find the site he used to order the stencil and the exact name of the paint. Deb...See MoreMy House
