You did an excellent job on those stencils! It is a very pretty and 'done' room. My rooms are always missing that last, or last few 'layers' to really feel warm to me...but I keep trying anyway.

And, I think your towels look fine too!

NICE!! How hard was it to do the stencils? Where did you get yours? Have you used them before? I want to do them in my DR but have no experience and don't want to mess up the new paint job!

Deb, it's really pretty! I think you had just the right touch with those stencils... I like how there are some "breaks" in the silver. You should be very proud of the job you did!

Wow! Thank you all so much for the wonderful compliments, I really appreciate it! I can't take credit for doing the stencil work myself, my decorator did it. We did samples on a board first to figure what kind of effect I wanted. I asked that some be more filled in or more defined than the others. We then figured out the actual number and placement for the wall and then used painters tape on the wall for placement to get the feel of how the room would look once the stencils were completed. This really helped me with making sure that we didn't OD with the stencil.

The stencil was ordered from an online company and Whenicit I will find out the site information and will post it for you. The hardest part was picking the right stencil because there were so many to choose from.
It was not hard at all just time consuming and playing around on a test board really helped alot. The one major thing the decorator did was to choose a "center" for lack of a better term as the starting point and then figuring out what to do from there. We used the print as the starting point and figured out a pattern from there.

She, I realized looking at the picture that the color reads red on the monitor. It is actually two SW colors and I need to find my fandeck to post the names. One color was lightly rubbed on top of the other.

The one thing I was bummed about was the fact that I went to the 2009 Parade of Homes here in OH and lo and behold what did I see but a powder room done in a similar technique. However they used more fleur de lis than we did and created a border of them at the top and I didn't really like it. I told the decorator that someone stole our idea! LOL! I've never gone this bold before but I am really really happy with how the room turned out. Next stop, family room!!

It's just wonderful. I think silver is a nice change from gold, too. Powder rooms are the perfect place to "go bold" IMO.

Wonderful idea. So much better than using something like wallpaper, cause someday you may sell your house, or want a different look, and you can just paint over them.. Lovely room!!!

That is SOOOO pretty. I love a dramatic powder room---you are only in it for a few minutes so it isn't overwhelming and small enough that if you tire of it you can change it without breaking the bank.

I have done similar stencilling before and the easiest way to do it is with a make-up sponge. My SIL told me about it and I thought she was nuts, but it really does work well!

Ooh...I love this a lot! I've also toyed with the idea of stenciling fleur de lis (after seeing them in a model home powder room), but yours are much prettier than those. The colors are just right! And I'll have to agree with whenicit that the towels don't need changing. They seem to pick up the accent colors in the wall hanging, at least on my monitor. Just beautiful!

Gosh you guys, I feel like the Queen for the day. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I know I tend to march to the beat of a different drum so I'm glad that you all are enjoying it as much as I do. I absolutely love, love, love my new bathroom. I actually smile everytime I go in there. I'm also pleased that I stepped out of my comfort zone and went with the silver instead of my usual gold. I know that the paint was a metalic paint from Sherwin Williams. I will find out exactly what kind it was.

I have to say that I have learned so much from you guys and that definitely encouraged me to do something different.

So my next action item, find the site he used to order the stencil and the exact name of the paint.

a while back someone was asking about how to do her small powder room with a French country look & using a the deep red color her DH wanted. This is nearly exactly what I described pewter/silver accents and stenciled Fluer de lis ..............maybe I was channeling your creative process. It looks lovely

Neesie, I purchased the towel holder from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It is silver & gold and is just the right size for paper guest towels. I have also seen them at Homegoods as well.

I'm still working on getting the paint and stencil information, I haven't forgotten.

The color looks more (deep) red than plum on my monitor too but it is perfect and so much nicer than the model home. Your towels don't need to be changed out, I like how you tied them with ribbon but they'd never stay that way in my house LOL (not a problem right now since I don't even have a *sink* in my PR!)
