The corner bathroom - that is a walk-in closet, not part of the bathroom. So you feel it would be OK to leave the tile in the hallway? It won't seem like things are broken up too much? With turning and mitering I am talking about where the hall turns only if I need to lay wood in the hallway. If I lay it vertical at the front door then would you continue to lay it vertical throughout the house or would you turn it when the hallway turns? My thought is we would lay everything one direction. Dh thought we should lay it so the wood runs parallel with the hall walls (necessitating a change at the corners), but I am really not understanding why you would need to do that.

which floor is higher? and by how much?

Hi Christy, White cabinets with a stained island definitely doesn't look stupid! Even with wood floors. I also wanted to do that so I studied many Christopher Peacock kitchens to determine what made it work so well. It seems like there is, at the very least, a 2 shade contrast between the floor and the island. I ended up going with white on my island after all only because I didn't have my floor selection nailed when I ordered my cabs. All white cabinets look beautiful and the contrast between them and the wood floor is lovely but a stained wood island brings a lot of warmth to a white kitchen.
