need help deciding on which washer & dryer to buy
Comments (1)My advice would be to find out how easy/difficult it is to get your machines serviced where you live. I decided not to get an LG because the closest authorized service provider was located 90 miles away. While that wouldn't have been a problem so long as the machine was under warranty...I thought it would be problematic later. Went with Bosch--there are three certified Bosch service people within 15 miles or so. (One in my town!)...See MoreNeed Help Deciding on Washer/Dryer
Comments (20)Thanks everyone for all your comments. I have done so much research now on every brand that's been mentioned here. I'm still not sure of what brand to buy since they all seem to have their problems. I have heard that Speed Queen is about the best but it is pricier. I do believe tho that I will stick to an old fashioned agitator model and not go with the HE models. The HE's are much more attractive but it IS just the laundry room. It's so easy to get caught up in all the hype about low water usage, pretty colors and designer looking machines when all I really want is something that will get my clothes clean without ruining them and not break down all the time. I have never had to spend one dime on the old Kenmore washer and dryer that I have now and it's OLD! I know things aren't built like that anymore so will just have to get over it and lower my expectations somewhat, but I still don't want to spend good money on machines that will not last. Whatever I wind up with, I just hope it's not a lemon. I think that's the problem nowadays...the quality is just not there anymore. Too many plastic parts, too many engineering shortcuts. A lot more lemons than there use to be. :(...See MoreHelp me pick a washer - LG WM3770HVA or LG WM8100HVA or Electrolux 627
Comments (6)Im fairly certain i have room for the larger LG model. I will double check the measurements though. Appreciate the suggestion. Where were you going to purchase the Electrolux from if you dont mind me asking? The only options i have are Home Depot or 2-3 smaller appliance stores in my area. None of the smaller appliance stores seem to have a good reputation and Home Depot is well Home Depot. I called Home Depot to inquire about there return policy if the washer has any issues and they told me that on major appliances while i can reject the order on delivery once delivery is taken i cannot return an item even if there are problems with it. All issues are through the manufacture. I think the LG from Costco pretty much is a definite at this point....See MoreSamsung vs. LG Washer and Dryer
Comments (8)The steam function is rather silly if u have to spend extra money to get that feature. I've got a Samsung W and D, both with steam function. U can rewet clothes easily enough to get out wrinkles by a number of obvious and simple means. The steam function for the washer is totally inadequate to make any difference in the washing quality. Every once in a while, a tiny bit of steam will be emitted at the top of the washer drum and hardly has any impact on the load being washed. We had numerous service calls on our washer, and one time the belt came off of the drier. I'm not sure I'd recommend the Samsungs and have no experience with the LG washers or dryers. They make a heck of a great OLED TV though. :)...See MoreJerrod
