LG or SAMSUNG front-load washer/dryer?
Comments (21)We purchased a Samsung VRT front loader and have had no problems so far for about 6 or 7 years. We got it from Sears and when the 5 year warrantee expired I purchased another 3 year plan. Unlike others here at GW we have had good luck with service from our local sears. When I thought there was something wrong with the soap dispenser of our washer they sent a new one right away. Turned out not to be a problem, just a design that didn't make sense. Our Kenmore refrigerator got routine service annually under warrantee and all has been well. That unit is about 9 years old and I only had to replace a dispenser tray in the ice maker not under warrantee, so I found a local repair shop that would install a new one I bought at Amazon for less than their wholesale cost. I have no experience with LG but the only products that have had mostly positive reviews is their refrigerator. To bad too because some of their stuff looks so sexy....See MoreSamsung Smart Washer WF457 & Dryer (LG in the mix too)
Comments (2)Hey, I wonder if the new Electrolux WaveTouch due out in 2013 will have a large touch screen replacing the dial and buttons? Any clue Chris Polk on the esthetics of the 2013 release of the WaveTouch?...See MoreSamsung 448 OR LG 3001? And steam dryer question.
Comments (5)We went with the Samsungs (338Âs which is the 4.0 capacity version of the 448Âs) and we absolutely love our machines. The performance to date is excellent and they are extremely quiet. The vibration reduction technology (ball bearing system) really works. We are really pleased with these machines. Just be sure the installers do not turn your washer over to install the pedestal if you decide to buy pedestals. Samsung has finally wised up and they are telling their dealers to stop flipping the machines to install the pedestals as it causes damage. Nonetheless, installers are still flipping the machinesÂclaiming itÂs safe as long as the shipping bolts are in. Not true. Many malfunctions of machines after delivery are due to the machine being flipped. Like all household appliances that use water, ff you have hard water, you will have to be concerned about mineral buildup for sure. Our water is hard (16 grains); so I donÂt bother with the steam function. Also, the stream function in of itself is not worth the risk to my dryer. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the truth of the matter is the steam dryer is a bunch of hokie crap. Clothing dried using the steam function does not look much different from clothing dried without steam. And itÂs not just SamsungÂitÂs all steam dryers. Nothing looks pressed/ironed because a dryer cannot produce the amount of steam necessary to get out the wrinkles for that pressed/ironed look. I still iron everything before I wear it. The good news is my clothes are far less wrinkled than they were from that crappy Calypsos set I had before the Samsungs. The Calypsos twisted my clothes into knots and created wrinkles; the Samsungs never knot or twist up my clothes. Most people would probably find their clothing out of the Samsung dryer acceptable for wearÂbut if you are looking for a wrinkle free look right out of the dryer--keep you iron hot....See MoreAppliance brand recommendation LG vs Samsung vs GE
Comments (0)I would like to get your hands on experiences with these 3 brands for fridge, range & dishwasher. I am remodeling my new condo in Miami and replacing everything. My old condo in Brooklyn I had GE appliances and GE fridge had a problem with leaked freon gas after 5+ years that costed me $150 to repair (after warranty expired). So far my research shows that LG has the longest warranty, followed by Samsung & GE. Luckily for me my condo includes appliance insurance from a third party vendor. If anything is not working I just schedule an appointment and repair man shows up the next day. In my other Miami condo (rental) before I did renovations I had appliances from the 80's and they would service them free of charge. They would only charge me if they needed to order some parts (ie. knob broke on washer). Price wise LG fridges are the most expensive (30%) while GE & Samsung are similar. For ranges it is LG, GE, Samsung (expensive to cheapest). For dishwashers its LG, GE, Samsung....See MoreMiMi
