need help deciding on which washer & dryer to buy
Comments (1)My advice would be to find out how easy/difficult it is to get your machines serviced where you live. I decided not to get an LG because the closest authorized service provider was located 90 miles away. While that wouldn't have been a problem so long as the machine was under warranty...I thought it would be problematic later. Went with Bosch--there are three certified Bosch service people within 15 miles or so. (One in my town!)...See MoreBlack Friday Deals on Washer/Dryer - need help deciding!
Comments (4)Thank you for the help! I finally decided on the Home Depot set, mainly because LG *seems* to have a better rep when it comes to w/d (I'm new to w/d research though) and Home Depot had free delivery :) It's also going to be on a first floor/concrete (tile) so hopefully vibration won't be an issue. I looked at the set at Best Buy yesterday - I did like it b/c of the steam feature, but it scared me a bit b/c it's a new model exclusive to BB - which means there aren't any "real world" reviews and BB can set the "regular" price in the ad anywhere they please. I wasn't convinced it was a $1200 regular price machine when comparing it to the other regular Samsungs in the store. I also didn't want to stand in line on Friday a.m. if I didn't *have* to :) I also got the BING cashback on the HD set and I wouldn't have gotten anything on the BB set - so essentially it would have been $300 more for steam. (more or less) Thanks again :)...See MoreNeed help purchasing FL washer/dryer
Comments (11)Sarah, we had to replace our washer and dryer this summer and wound up picking the LG. Mine are downstairs on tile over a concrete slab, but once the leveling was adjusted a little, they are almost motionless and quiet. I don't think you'd have any problem with them on the second floor. Ours are on pedestals and still no motion. The only issue I have had is that for some reason, some tomato based stains haven't come out as well. I'm not sure if that's the machine, detergent or what, but someone suggested some vinegar, adn that did the trick -- either directly on the spot or in the machine's fabric softener dispenser. On the other hand, I've been very pleased with the cleaning of everything else (and those shirts now that we know the trick). Our white sheets and towels are whiter and I really like the sanitary cycle. It runs longer, but it's so quiet, it doesn't bother me. There is a quick wash that runs in about 20 min. That comes in handy when one of the boys forgets gym clothes or a band shirt, etc. I don't think I ever saw your kitchen finished -- just some progress and near done shots. Hope that all went well....See MoreNeed help buying a washer and dryer
Comments (22)We recently moved to a new (to us) house, where of course the previous owner had replaced the WD before they sold. It is a Maytag Centennial set (one year old) and I hate it. The clothes are wrinkled and twisted in the washer so my steamer has been getting quite a workout, and the dryer has to be run for 2-3 cycles to dry anything, even on high. I have to plan drying to make sure I am home long enough to to start it again because otherwise it is sitting damp and warm and gets mildewed smelling. I have had the vent cleaned, the vent tubing replaced, cleaned the sensor, and have tried every setting and every level and every size of load. I have done everything suggested in the owner's manual and online. I haven't tried replacing the sensor yet as it is the same story when I use timed dry. I can only conclude that this is a piece of junk and am here looking for something better. I have kids and I don't have time for this kind of nonsense. It's a shame because we left behind a 30-year-old Maytag set that worked like a charm. So this is all to say don't get an HE Maytag !...See MoreUser
