Mixing SW Universal Khaki (SW- 61) with BM White Dove?
Comments (6)It's all good. I finished my first ever paint job, a 16 foot, 2 french door LR wall today! I spent a lot of time on prep, as the trim, baseboard, doors and even walls had been used hard over the last decade (my kids I think). I rebuilt a couple of wall door trim edges with good wood putty which took a while and couple of coats. Also used SW elastomeric caulk on a 1/8 gap where wood wall met, my first ever caulking job. Just took it slow and kept exhaling. Found the Black and Decker Mighty Mouse to be a helpful power house, but there was a sharp learning curve on delicate use with it. The SW Universal Khaki looks stunning next to SW Rugged Brown-better then SW Favorite Tan which had been there. My favorite trim color, BM White Dove finishes the palette perfectly! I now understand there is a lighter SW Khaki but frankly with four windows, the lighting looks just right! Thanks for your help. I stuck to your advice as well as read GW prep paint basics and got it done and all back together again in time for the holidays....See MoreBesides BM White Dove, what white for painting old furniture?
Comments (3)Shelly, in the past when I painted a lot of furniture, I tried a number of things, but always loved BM's Cameo White the best. It was the most yummy, creamy shade that gave my vintage pieces a soft glow. It may have more yellow in it than you would prefer, however. Whites that are less creamy than Cameo, but still soft, would be Cloud White, Chantilly Lace, & Swiss Coffee. The SC does have a slightly beigy undertone, but could look great on a vintage piece. The other 2 shades are truer, cleaner whites. Painting furniture is fun & rewarding. I used to paint things all the time...gee, if the cat had sat still long enough, I probably would have painted her! It can be addictive!...See MoreSW Dover White and BM White Dove for trim
Comments (5)I think I remember reading that Alabaster was close to White Dove. Dover White is more creamy yellow. Both are nice colors! We just used White dove for the ceilings and trim in our newly remodeled bedrooms. I really like the color even though we have creamier trim throughout the rest of the house....See MoreSW pure white vs SW extra white
Comments (51)Amy Sivley, we had our cabinets painted Snowbound with extra white on all the trim. They look like the same color. Its a very stark white. in certain lights the snowbound has a pink hue & the extra white has a blue hue. way to bright for me but I’m stuck with it we did Pure white on our ceilings & love it. I wish i would have picked something that doesnt blind me when I walk in the kitchen. all our trim throughout the house is bright white & Im trying to pick a white for the walls & having trouble.we did Cedar Key in a few rooms & that looks great but I want to try white....See MoreAlexandra Borowski
