FloraBuds, Just so you know, when I went back to the pharmacy to get my "medicine" for my Body and Soul, the exacums were in bad shape from over watering. Many of them had keeled over from damp rot. And the Party Times were $6!, not five. Still, I am glad I went for them. Does anyone know about their cultivation and growth haibits? The exacum looks like a ground cover to me. Ok, thanks all, I'll use the Soltiere stainless sink on the main island with the White Macaubas. Question below on other sink... Kirkhall - The (now) stainless sink on my island will be my everything sink. The other (undetermined) sink with be everybody else's everything sink, and I'll make it just big enough to be useful if needed as an extra prep sink. lascatx - Both are undermounted sinks. And, thanks for the reference points on stainless! a2gemini - I am a total Silgranit fan. I wish I could make my own color. I waited to see what the Cinder would look like, and there is now a sample Cinder Silgranit sink in a local showroom, but it fell flat with both the black and the WM. The backsplash that will be on the wall behind the "extra" sink is a warm gray glazed brick. (YAY FOR HAVING A BACKSPLASH ALREADY SELECTED!) But, the metallic gray Silgranit looked bad with the backsplash brick. So, if I do Silgranit, it looks like it will be black on black... Oldbat2be - Every time I see your backsplash, I think that you are probably a really fun person to know. Not old-bat-ish at all. Thanks for the pics. In case anyone is still reading... I am including an architect's rendering of the space we are building. The room is built now. Staining will happen shortly, and cabinets are just now being built. You can see the main sink (now stainless!) on the middle island. The islands and also the wall behind the range are the White Macaubas. The cabinet stretch on the left wall (perpendicular to the islands) will be the breakfast/serving/drink/etc space, and will have the leathered black countertop with the extra sink on the far end. Backsplash is warm gray glazed brick. Cabinet stain and beams are a darker walnut. Floors and ceiling are natural. You can see the proximity of the sinks. So, picturing that serving space, are you still seeing the anthracite sink, or does this sink need to be stainless given that the main sink (thanks!) is now stainless? Next time I start a thread? I'll try to include the pics up front! The rendering looks "dark", but the two walls you can't see are mostly all glass. IRL, there is lot's of natural light.

Such a personal preference question I think. But I'll tell you why I am getting the instahot. I currently have a hot water dispenser on my counter which I have used tonnes. I got one from my MIL who was downsizing, thought I'd bring it out when she came to visit and put it away in between. Then I found it super useful so when the one she gave me broke I went out and bought another. I guess we use a fair bit of hot water in my house! So the instahot will get one more bulky appliance off my counters. Regarding some of the other responses - my instahot will be filtered before it is heated. I thought that was pretty standard? I guess it depends on how much filtration you need/want. Might not be able to get the best of filtration but it's good enough for me and our water. And the hot water from the instahot is very near boiling. But not boiling, just almost boiling. So if you need it really boiling then a kettle is still the way to go. A downside might be the potential for scalding ... so I'm having a valve installed by the plumber so I can switch it off when my kids are playing at the sink. A bit of a pain until they're old enough to be trusted at the sink but worth it for my peace of mind. It might not be an issue for you, but you wanted both pros and cons right?! I pondered the soap dispenser and never MT. I think they're great, but I decided I didn't want so many things cluttering my sink since the instahot will be there already. On a day to day basis there will be clutter. My house is lived in and the kitchen gets tonnes of use so on a day to day basis the dish and hand soap will both be out. But I wanted to be able to put those away for a cleaner and less cluttered look when/if I want to. Also, unless you have mostly plastic in the soap dispensing guts there can be corrosion of the metal parts from the added antibacterial agents and perfumes/colours in the soap. I've found that on my countertop soap dispenser in my MB - mostly aesthetically dis-pleasing so I haven't replaced it yet. It probably isn't too much of an issue since tonnes of people use them on the kitchen sinks. So for me I would have probably done the soap dispenser if I wasn't already doing the instahot. I just don't want so much stuff being permanently attached to the back of my sink. In regards to the disposal there are tonnes of interesting and varied opinions in the link you've already been given. I won't bother repeating it all again! HTH!
