I would agree that matching the cabinets to the dining room would be too much. Wood that is all the same just blends in the background. Your cherry will look more lovely if the kitchen is something different and vice-versa. Different wood tones together is normal - especially because these will never be "touching" (I think you have to be more careful to make sure floors and cabinets don't clash.) If I were you I would go to the cabinet place and forget about the dining room. Open your mind - consider all they have in natural or stained wood - and pick something you think is beautiful and go from there. If you want something lighter, consider maple natural or with light stain. Cherry is always beautiful, but a little more expensive, but try natural or other tone that you just love. And oak gets a bad rap but with the right door style and finish, the grain can be striking. Good luck.

You could use some of that eyelet fabric over the mirrors on the 2 center quadrants from top to bottom and let the far left and far right mirrors unveiled. They make something called ticky tack, that teachers use to hold posters and things on walls(no nails). I wonder if that wouldn't work on your favorite eyelet pattern?, and not damage the wood/fabric/mirrors? A friend took pieces of an old heirloom lace piece and did that in her miniature curio cabinet she inherited over the back mirror lined surface.. She now uses the cabinet to hold all of her essential oil(many mini bottles)collection. If you like the country style dishware, the eyelet in the tea color(or you can tea stain some yourself) might look very pretty inside the darkwood and contrast with your white dishes? And tone down the shiny of the mirror? Furniture is too large for room. Lamps are way too short/small for the room. But in the meantime, place the sofa across form the TV and place the loveseat in front of the window.. You do realize the lack of logic in having a FIREPLACE placed in front of drapery panels? If you can move the FP further down the wall to help the illusion.

Do you enter through the front door or through the garage? To me, that would dictate how the space should function. I enter through the front, so I would at least need a catch all for keys, sunglasses and a space for my purse. If this going to be primarily used for guests, then I guess I would just put some pretty things here. There's no color in any of your photos. Maybe do a bold wall or art piece that really says something.
