Can I Play Too????
Comments (11)I had to chuckle to myself over the fact that you can have four or five in your kitchen--mine is so small that my DIL calls it a two butt kitchen! When we downsized so I could quit working, we bought a smaller, older home. The kitchen was just a little galley with really worn cabinets. We tore out everything and installed new oak cabinets and new appliances. Had to move a small window so it would be centered, then we installed the cabinets in a U shape. The kitchen is still small, but now I have lots more cabinets and counterspace at least. Really very convenient for just the two of us, everything is only a step or two away, and I really don't cook allot anymore. The biggest mistake I made was in not having my upper cabinets go all the way to the ceiling. Silly me, I wanted the space on top to display some of my knick knacks. Now as I'm getting older, the idea of climbing a step ladder to get up there to clean is less and less appealing! ;o( My neighbor is in the process of having her kitchen redone right now. They are doing new wiring, plumbing and cabinets too. Her floor plan is different from mine, but still a long galley style. She plans to extend her cabinets into the dining area for extra storage. I think it is so fun to see what a difference can be made. Luvs...See MoreThe year in a song...a video
Comments (13)Oh this is so frustrating...have no idea what I am doing wrong. I just went back to photobucket and generated the codes again. The album isn't private, that is where I put all the photos posted here. Have no idea why it won't link. Comments (11)Hi there! Great idea on the cupcake stands--I've looked at them before and thought the same thing--there should be a way to use them other than to just hold cupcakes. Your idea of the flowerpots and decorations sounds great. You know me, I like fancy, sparkly--and very cutesy. I could see stacked plates in the dining room and cute cupcake stands in the kitchen.. See, I want it all! LOL My DIL said she picked up some ornaments and other items after Christmas and wants me to do the stacked plates for her next year. I'm thinking that she might like the cupcakes stands too, especially for Spring. My son bought me a Mother's Day gift last year that is made of metal. It is like a stand with a V shaped vase in the top middle, then little votive cups all around the lower part. Pretty contemporary for my style. I spray painted it white, put silk roses in the vase and moss to cover the stems. Still looking a little contmporary. The other day, I was wondering how it would look with a flower pot in the top instead of the vase--I'm thinking I might try that--doubt that he would even notice the change. Maybe it would work sort of like your idea for the cupcake stands. Hmmm! I am so proud of you for painting. I've been trying to get my roses all trimmed--and I have allot of them. I've only got the ones on the side yard to go. Some of the other plants that got frozen will have to get cut back too. Was just waiting to be sure we wouldn't have any more freezes before I do. Would you believe it is 82 degrees right now? Supposed to get up to 84 today then drop back into the 70's. Weather is really unpredictable. I need to get that TS duck sanded off so I can get it painted--should be an easy project. And that sign I got--just can't quite decide what to paint on it. Need to put my thinking cap on. I love to sign on here and check out what's going on at all the forums. It's my way of relaxing and playing. ;o) Ths is my first stop each time. I haven't looked at Garden and Flower crafts computer crafts, or hypertufa. I've only checked out the Stained glass/mosaic forum once. I do hit the others pretty regularly. You don't have to post unless you want to--your choice-- I know you are really busy all the time--I just wanted to be sure you weren't left out.I always enjoy chatting with you. Have a good day. Comments (7)Gram, I just bought some small paper doilies. I'm trying to make some "wooden" valentines cookies with different "toppings" on them. Wanted them to look like the ones Minnie postefd on the crafts or holidays forum. (Her's are real.) Thought I would use a doily as a stencil on a couple of them. Make them look like I sprinkled powdered sugar on them. I think I've stenciled over a doily before but it would have been eons ago! I have seen lace used on projects and it looked beautiful--just haven't had occassion to try it myself. Probably wouldn't want to ruin the piece of lace--I love lace! Ha ha I have some old bottles of texture paste, so I used some of it to ice a few of the "cookies" last night. The one product really looked like icing! Sure hope nobody picks one up when I am not looking--wouldn't want anyone to break a tooth! LOL Not sure this project will be worth all the cutting and sanding--but decorating them is sort of fun! I think my post about the painting roses on suitcases video is on the Trash to Treasure forum. This suitcase was only 99 cents, so figured "Why not"? I often want to try things--but then have no place to use them. I used to let that stop me, but now I figure I will just do it and enjoy myself. I can always have a YS or donate it to Goodwill, right? Paintingfool, Bet that was a good book. I have a couple of magazines with painted teapots in them. I've also seen some on ebay and on some of the Shabby Chic sites. I am sort of curious about this one--the metal is different from most that i have seen--not copper but very gold colored. It's really heavy and the inside is beautiful. We use Maas polish on the silver and pewter items at the store--so I think I will try that on this one. Just want to see if I might have found a diamond in the rough! LOL If it doesn't clean up and look good, then I will spray paint it and paint some roses on it. What a great idea with the bowls. Bet they are wonderful. That sounds like challenging painting too. You are just amazing. I think it is so fun to hit a YS or TS and look for things to revitalize with paint. That duck I found has to be from the 80's. I think I have a painting book with a whole bunch of them in it. For 55 cents, I couldn't not give him a 2nd lease on life. I think I will sand him off and repaint him--he'll add a little whimsey in my sideyard flowerbed. Happy painting! Luvs...See More- 5 years ago
