I need some help figuring out how to lay out this kitchen
Comments (66)If you use lisa_a's with 2 entrances to the pantry it may just vent itself easily as I'd imagine the pocket entry door to it from the garage may stay open or ajar frequently. You could possibly fit it in the bump back to match the entrance stairs. Fridges in garages are pretty common around here but we have more issues with freezing temps than overly hot. Otherwise I'd put it in that spot in the garage where the writing says small appliances for inside the kitchen. That's not far of a walk at all....See MoreHi, friends. Comments (14)@IreneMorresey Thanks for your input! I just brought home several samples of grey paints...wish me luck! I do really like the idea of a darker grey but I’m too chicken to go through with it - I’m afraid it would diminish whatever natural light we get and I’m afraid of not having the right tones of furniture ...but I like that idea!!...See MoreNeed advice on caulking crown moldings over colored walls/ceiling
Comments (35)This is how I've done it. Caulked (and like many mentioned) and built it up with a few passes. Taped off the trim but not the very bottom edge of the trim. Painted the caulked wall AND the bottom of the trim. This is the easiest way to do it because even when you look at the most sparkly white trim the bottom always reflects the color of the wall and never looks white anyway so might as well paint it (I have light colored walls everywhere so this has minimal impact on overall look of the moulding). Also taping off the straight edge just above that trim edge is easy and easy to paint everything below and little to no risk of a mess. I'm done, forgot to take pictures.. maybe next time. Thanks everyone for participation and advice....See MoreNeed help laying out coffered ceiling
Comments (5)I disagree! Annie V - We have a coffered ceiling in our great room. On the plan, everything looked uniform and honky-dory. Once the house was built, things were slightly off. The French doors got moved. The kitchen cabinets interfered (so the coffers are smaller over the kitchen and they define that area). We have beams that end over the bookcase and they are not centered over the bookcases. We have beams that are ending toward the ends of arched openings instead of in the middle of that arched opening. In the main area (centerpiece) of the room, the coffers are uniform. That's the area that the eyes are focused on when in our great room. Saying all of that, I have yet to notice a problem when in the room. It all blends together. It's a beautiful ceiling no matter what! In fact, we get complements on the ceiling all the time. BTW - Your builder should be working with you to line everything up the best that you can. Our builder, and his carpenters, worked with us for several days in getting it right (or at least the best it could be.) Don't overthink because you will be surprised that once everything is done and settled that you will not focus on the imperfections, as much. If you want coffers, go for it! I think your plan looks good. The area near the stairs does not faze me one bit....See MoreTara S
