Medium-Weight Cotton Fabric for Re-Covering Seat Cushions
Comments (3)Sounds to me like the cotton you would like to use will be fine. I would not hesitate using a medium weight cotton on a dining room seat chair. In the fabric description you provide, I see the word "duck" used. Every time I've felt cotton that has the word duck in it, I notice it feels stronger/thicker than other cottons. Good luck with your chair seats & post before and after pics so we can see! Laurie...See MoreHow to pick fabric for Reupholstering Items?
Comments (29)Well, I do like the bird fabric, but I dont think it will work. :( I think the pattern is too large, and I think I should probably not use another fabric that has the dark blue background. I am not good at scale I think. Not sure if I should start another thread, but I will post pictures tonight of the two samples I got. I don't think I like either of them! The fabric will have to go with this rug... (excuse the mess, now you see why I turned my DR into a playroom :) ) and these drapes (it is the blue fabric. for some reason this is the best close up i have on line) .... So any of these look good to anyone???? 1 2 3 4 I kind of like these too, but it is getting matchy matchy. 5 6 7 I did order samples of a blue velvet and a denim. I like the idea of using some of that for the slip cover with the fabric. Maybe even together. Someone had said why would you put the denim and velvet on the same chair? They are close in color. At first I thought that made sense, but isnt that kind of how you bring texture in to a room? I am so bad at this!!!!!! :)...See MoreReupholster leather sofa seat cushions in different fabric?
Comments (9)Thank you both for the support. The sofa I saw in the store was a similar leather to the one you linked to, postum. The cushions were a very dark paisley and I thought it look quite nice. I know I'm making this old sofa sound awful but I'm sitting here looking at it now and it's not that bad. I have a throw over it that covers the cracks in the seat cushions and throw pillows at each end. I'm just thinking that if I get a good coordinating fabric on the cushions it would eliminate the need for the throw that I'm constantly readjusting after DH has his nap....See MoreReupholstering love seat and chair
Comments (6)Unless you are doing the upholstery yourself, or unless these pieces have either monetary or sentimental value, you're going to pay nearly as much to re-upholster as you would buying new furniture. If you like the style of the loveseat and chair frames, it won't be difficult to find similarly styled pieces in neutral fabrics. Don't do both pieces in the same fabric; you could do coordinating solids in different colors and add some pattern with throw pillows....See Morecoffeecat219
