American Range Performer - experiences of recent buyers?
Comments (164)My Performer range has been in use daily for almost two years (plus an intermittent year prior to that). I am really happy with it and the cooking results. I have also found it light-years easier that the Wolf AG to clean. (I did not replace the Wolf, which I liked, but we moved.) It had seemed to me that the oven might be turning on and off while in use more than in the first year lately, but perhaps not--I am also the one who suddenly looks at a mole and things, "how long has it been that color?" despite seeing it every day. Murch, I read the negative reviews you linked to. One confusion is that people will report problems with the ovens, the ranges, and the company all in one thread. The ovens seem to be more problematic than the ranges. Perhaps I have been lucky, but would not change my decision. I agree totally that the company should stand behind their products, but have not had any to deal with. should add--the Burners do poof when extinguishing, at least the 25k, but not as much as the Wolf. But I had the older semi-open Wolf....See MoreMy recent experience with Foca laundry detergent.
Comments (13)FOCA IS TOXIC. IT IS CHEAP, IT POLLUTES AND IT CONTAINS HARMFUL PRODUCTS BAD FOR YOU . A RESEARCH CAME OUT IN Mexico in 2015 about Foca and the pink soap usually sold just close to it. It contains whitened agents bad for fish and any living creatures,it has impact on skin, can cause allergy, respiratory problems, cancers etc. Look on the EWG site they confirm. Now green does mean safe either, but there are good products outside like GG or others. It means more money, but think of your children, your health and the whole world we all are going to leave to our great children...when we buy we have to be responsible buyers. We can make a better world and these brands should change their formula for us and all living creatures, for a better and safer future. I do not even understand how these brands can still sell harmful products to us......See MoreRECENT experience with Mirage engineered flooring? Lauzon?
Comments (80)I have both brands in my house. Both are engineered products and are glued to a concrete slab with BOSTICH Greenforce (highly recommended if you glue). The Luazon is red oak with a natural, semi gloss finish. The Mirage is a graywashed white oak with a brushed type finish. The Lauzon has about a 1mm thicker hardwood layer than the Mirage, The Mirage comes in longer lengths. The Lauzon dents pretty easily. The Janka scale does not seem to be an accurate indicator with only a thin layer of hardwood over a softwood plywood. If you drop a small fork it will leave a ding unlike a solid wood floor. We are very careful with the dogs and even with that there are places where they have left some nice gouges with their nails The Mirage brushed finish white oak is a much more resilient product and of course the flatter sheen hides more Both have excellent milling, micro grooves, end matching, and the products are extremely uniform with hardly any culls. Mirage has more species choices than Lauzon and would be my number one choice. Either one of these are great products and I would not try and cheap out on any engineered product, especially the glue if that's your install method. That said, these two companies are not cheap, but you get what you pay for....See MoreRecent Experiences with Colorful Induction Ranges?
Comments (14)Yeah, function over form for sure if the two are too far in contradiction. I just have no reference point for the Italian companies and there doesn't seem to be a lot of information online. I know Viking was having some issues several years ago. Anyone know how they have been doing in the past few years, after they were bought out? I think that was in 2013, so they should be 7-8 years out now from restructuring. I'd really like to have a sense for how they are currently doing, in comparison to Wolf and Miele....See More- 8 years ago
