My wife and I hired Don Pell Gardens to design a garden (including a walkway and stone wall) that would fit into the country/mountain environment where we where building our new house. He listened to our wants and desires and developed several concepts for us to consider. After agreeing on the plan the job was executed on time, within budget and in a very professional manner. We now have a beautiful garden where there is something blooming all the time between the spring and fall. Don has also been out to the property many times since the job to check on the status of the garden and offer advice as needed. We have since hired Don to develop a design for native tree plantings on the property. We could not have been more pleased with Don Pell Gardens

Donald and his men completed a superb masonry sidewalk of irregular flagstone set in a 6 inch bed of 2A crushed stone and topped with a bed of screenings. The completed sidewalk blended perfectly with our 200 year old plus carriage house converted into an office.

I started my search for a Landscape Architect on Houzz and read the reviews for Don Pell Gardens. We wanted an architect with a clear, creative vision, one who was passionate about the field, and one who was also an honest business person. Normally people would interview a few contractors before making a choice, but once we met Don, we knew he was the one. We had a serious problem with runoff going into our pool. We needed a thorough land management plan, along with a new plan for gardens and hardscape; for an area that was originally landscaped thirty years ago. We met with Don several times to look at plans, he sent out a site team to study the terrain, and then a final plan was presented. We were thrilled with the plan, but it even gets better. Don has the greatest crew working with him. Paul, Sean, and Karl worked hard every minute they were at the house, no messing around, just hard work during the hottest days of summer. Not only do they take great pride in their work, they are truly the nicest, most professional men you could have at your home. With each visit Don made to the job site, he made adjustments and suggestions that perfected the job, and he stayed within our budget! Angela, the CAO, was also a key asset, as she stays in touch and has a handle on the job's progress. If you are looking for a design that shows creativity, beauty, and attention to detail, then you will be very pleased with Don and his crew!

My experience with Donald Pell Gardens began this past spring with a visit to our home from Donald. I'm a professional artist, and consequently the visual and the story both mean a great deal.Don was gracious and engaging, and soon had me under the landscapists storytelling spell. From his enthusiasm for the possibilities he envisioned for our home and grounds throughout every stage of the process Donald and his entire group were consummate professionals. The meticulous planning and design concepts took into account beauties hidden in our property I had long overlooked. Don didn't pressure my wife and I (who also fell under his spell at their first meeting) with schemes and empty promises. Everyone connected with this company treated our project as if it were their own and they operated with the utmost respect and integrity. A truly pleasant surprise was the demeanor and excitement each of his landscapists brought to our project. From the "Stone whisperers" to the hard work of digging out a huge unwanted hedge every member of the team was worthy of their hire. Ultimately, our property was transformed from a serviceable and pleasant yard to a meditative retreat. What originally was a yard has become an extension of our home and my studio space, with guests continually commenting on the special beauty they now see. As a visual artist it is a pleasure to work with a group that has found the ability to pursue creative expression in the palette of landscape. My wife and I now count the entire team at Donald Pell Gardens as friends...who get it.

I would highly recommend Donald Pell Landscaping. On the initial visit, Don heard what I wanted, answered concerns about the budget and my desired time frame. A member of his staff come and reviewed my property taking over 3 hours to take pictures, test soils, temperatures and whatever they needed to present me with a workable "blueprint". After the plan was presented and my concerns addressed, we proceeded with a date and the planting. Promptly his team arrived and professionally prepared the beds and then planted. I was instructed how to care for the plantings and given all the names and blooms times orally and then in print. His staff responded quickly to my e-mails for questions. I chose Donald Pell Landscaping because he is knowledgeable, environmental savvy and presents new and exciting gardening options that I was looking for. My plan is ongoing and I am excited to begin my next phase with D Pell Landscaping in the spring.

Donald Pell Gardens is an experienced design and build landscaping company that exceeds other similar companies for several reasons. First of all, Don and his team are courteous, respectful, and are a pleasure to have working on the property. Regarding budget matters, Don definitely works with the customer. There aren't a lot of additional costs above the original bid, unless initiated by the client. They do a good job of communicating and listening to what the client wants. Don even took the extra step of giving us a personal tour of a large garden he created a couple of years ago to help us envision what our plantings will look like and to make sure we liked the style and plant types he likes to use. In addition, their knowledge of plant material and how it interacts with the environment is impressive. Don uses tried and true plants that don't require a lot of watering or extra attention. He and his team design gardens that create a tapestry of colors and textures using large sweeps of plants. The end result is stunning!

Donald Pell met with us to understand our landscaping needs. He then designed the two parts of the project and met with us to go over the conceptual design plans. The first project involved landscaping a sloped section of our yard which had become eroded and was very difficult/dangerous to mow. We also needed a safe way to travel down the hill from our driveway to the yard below. Donald's design for this project included installation of steps of natural stone, installation of a path connecting the new upper and lower steps, and providing a new garden consisting of a variety of trees, shrubs and flowering plants to create a beautiful natural garden on the sloped area. His crews accomplished the work on time and on budget, and the end result is beautiful, natural lookiing, and functional. No more mowing required on the slope! We now travel down the stone steps through a beautiful garden on our way to the yard below. The second project involved the installation of a natural stone patio in another section of the yard. While the initial cost extimate was over our budget, Donald worked with us, modified the design, and brought the cost down to our budget. Once again, Donald's crew perfomed the work on schedule and on budget. As was the case with the first project, the workers were very professional, courteous and friendly. They obviously take great pride in their work. The end result is fantastic. We now have a beautiful new patio that greatly exnhances the look and functionality of our yard.

I have worked with Donald Pell gardens for 15 plus years. Don is a pleasure to work with, he is knowledgable, creative and interesting. He has worked for me at 3 different locations, doing various landscaping work. at my current home, Don designed and installed an outside kitchen, pergola and large patio, dinning area. It is beautiful and fits perfectly into the setting of our home.

I am currently working with Don Pell to landscape a 10 acre property. I highly value Don's expertise in garden design. Working with Don Pell gardens i know i'm not going to get a cookie cutter design. As an artisan myself i can see Don has a masters eye and that he has a true passion for the work. As an artist he pushes himself to create new ideas of what can be done. I am sure he could design traditional gardens but i think his passion is in a more contemporary or cutting edge designs that are bold yet maintainable.As a building professional i hold Don Pell Gardens as a valuable team member.
