Reupholster leather sofa seat cushions in different fabric?
Comments (9)Thank you both for the support. The sofa I saw in the store was a similar leather to the one you linked to, postum. The cushions were a very dark paisley and I thought it look quite nice. I know I'm making this old sofa sound awful but I'm sitting here looking at it now and it's not that bad. I have a throw over it that covers the cracks in the seat cushions and throw pillows at each end. I'm just thinking that if I get a good coordinating fabric on the cushions it would eliminate the need for the throw that I'm constantly readjusting after DH has his nap....See MoreCan I live without a couch and instead use 2 loveseats?
Comments (28)I know from experience that a love seat and two chairs will work fine. But I don't tend to sleep on the loveseat. I do a lot of reading there, sitting sideways with my feet up on the loveseat cushion. This works well for me. You need to think about how you use your furniture and what would work well for you. There are many variations in size for sofas and loveseats. I'm currently shopping for a new loveseat and I've found that some small couches are narrower than some wide loveseats. So a lot has to do with how the manufacturer is marketing the furniture. Get your measurements and forget the labels "sofa" and "loveseat." Go out there and find something that fits that works for your family. If there's enough seating in the room for the family on a daily basis, that's good enough in a small room. You can always bring in chairs from other rooms or even get some comfortable folding chairs to handle guests when you entertain. Furnish the room for how your family uses it the majority of the time, and be flexible with how you handle the overflow when you have guests....See MoreSofa that doesn't get lumpy back cushions within months?
Comments (30)Oh I love the Sloan, too, Veronica! That was the other one I was considering. Overall I think the ID quality is excellent and Customer Service was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. One note: the sofa was delivered with the legs attached, but they weren't screwed in tightly (may have loosened during shipping), which caused a creaking sound until we figured out the problem. So be sure to double-check that the legs are screwed in all the way! Side Table is the Reeve Side Table by West Elm (https://www.westelm.com/products/reeve-mid-century-side-table-marble-h955/) and is a "marble veneer." West Elm has a matching round coffee table too (https://www.westelm.com/products/reeve-mid-century-coffee-table-marble-walnut-h520/), but I bought this one - which is the James round coffee table from Belham Living - first and actually like it a bit better. It's solid marble instead of veneer, and was about $200 less than the West Elm. I think it may be sold out, though, as I can't find it online. Found this one on eBay for $100 more than I paid: https://www.ebay.com/itm/143797146260?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=143797146260&targetid=1070198977085&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9011572&poi=&campaignid=11612591250&mkgroupid=113642466472&rlsatarget=pla-1070198977085&abcId=9300457&merchantid=6296724&gclid=CjwKCAiA65iBBhB-EiwAW253WwHcNI42fLpQ7h-AD2j-7dkyqjav8XDOKvzPd_vYYlv4J5naOQYwvRoCCJQQAvD_BwE Something I learned about marble and marble veneer is that you have to use coasters because liquid etches it!...See MoreSofas with non-slouchy back cushions?
