I took out my recipes and decided to cook one sweet treat a week for three months. What haven't I made? ;) Irish soda bread made completely Americanized (add orange zest and raisins), cinnabon copycat with cream cheese frosting, carrot raisin muffins, zucchini bread, Sol's duffins, pecan pie muffins, yellow cake with mocha frosting, and I'm sure many I am forgetting since it's only seven things listed and it's a dozen weekends? I will make a sour cream coffeecake this weekend.

I'm on a diet so haven't baked anything. However, my temper seems to be simmering and I just added a few drops of Houzz to the pot.

I made Annies (from Cooking) gluten free lemon bars. Soooo good. I'm going to make AnnT's (from Cooking) rasberry pie and use her all butter pie crust over the weekend. Made two pumpkin pies a few weeks ago but cheated using Pillsbury crust.

I make my own 100% organic whole wheat bread. I add cinnamon and cocoa powder to it which use for breakfast toast. Smells so good when it's toasting!

It's been a while since I've done any baking as we're both trying to lose a few pounds. But, I have a bunch of low carb dessert recipes save and may try one or two of those in the near future.

Moonie, a few minutes ago I came to this site and if was so messed up. But it looks like they corrected it. I've just this past week made Paul Hollywood' Ciabatta bread, it was awesome. But I don't do that much baking in the Summer. Once in a while I get to Jonesing for chocolate cake but that's about it.

I made apple bread pudding for Mother's Day. It turned out okay, but I wouldn't make it again.

I baked a cake for ds's graduation. I might bake butterscotch oatmeal cookies if I get inspired enough to walk to the kitchen. I've never made the cookies before, but cleaned out my pantry and came up with some ideas based on what is in there.

Anyway, I haven’t baked a thing in a long time. Trying to watch carbs, but we hosted a taco party for DGD’s graduation, so I did have a taco and a few beans. And then there was the yummy cake DD had a friend bake for the party.

I've baked a couple of chocolate cakes and a couple of pans of buttermilk biscuits lately. I was hungry for chocolate cake but only had chocolate chips....no baking chocolate or cocoa. I found a recipe in a 1954 Quaker cookbook that called for dissolving a square of chocolate in hot water, so I dissolved some of the chocolate chips in hot water and adjusted the sugar down, and it turned out great and so good that I made another one a few days later. I had also cut the recipe in half, and baked it in a toaster oven because right now, that is all I have.

2 rhubarb pies. I got the rhubarb at a local u -pick place. They hand you a knife and a sack and point. Love it!

An apple cake one weekend and chocolate chip cookies this past weekend.

I baked a strawberry-rhubarb pie exactly one week ago. First time I'd used 'clear jel' as a thickener, and it turned out great. We had company to share it with, so it lasted less than a day. I think I need more practice on the crust, though ....

I don't bake much any more because DH works away during the week and even when he's home we're both trying to watch our weight. But last weekend we went olive picking on a friend's farm - it's a big affair with lots of people, we pick half the morning, have morning tea, then pick until lunchtime and have a long lunch afterwards. Very convivial. As my contribution I supply the morning tea and I like to go all out :-)

So I baked plain scones (served with homemade cherry jam and whipped cream), cheesy herb scones, ginger snaps with candied ginger, chocolate chip cookies, gluten free lemon friands, gluten free chocolate cupcakes with raspberry buttercream, lime coconut cake, Portuguese egg tarts, and two loaves of bread for curried chicken salad sandwiches.

We also picked two weeks previously so I baked both kinds of scones, rugelach, oatmeal craisin pecan cookies, gluten free raspberry and white chocolate friands, gluten free lemon bars, tarte Tatin, mandarin poppy seed cupcakes, brownies and bread for baked ham sandwiches.

I love to bake but I shouldn't eat it so I look forward to occasions when I can have a little taste and then give all the rest away :-)

Bread. I order my flour from England so I can have real wheat flour, otherwise, I have to use wheat substitutes for my gluten (US-produced only) sensitivity. I also made a plan of cornbread (Southern style - NOT sweet, no sugar at all) the on Tuesday. I have a chocolate cake recipe that I'm going to try to make into cupcakes so we can freeze what we don't eat. We rarely eat sweets, so a dozen cupcakes would last us a year. lol

On Wednesday, I made lemon bars to bring to a meeting. On Sunday, I made two pizzas - a loaded one and a vegetarian. Tonight I am making rhubarb crisp.

Adella, I make the oatmeal, butterscotch chip cookies occasionally, think they are called oatmeal scotties. They are yum.

Biscuit shortcake!!! Baking it to go with the homegrown strawberries I can now get for a very short time at a local produce market. Yummy!

Elmer, we get home-grown strawberries from our favorite Farmers' Markets this time of year. They're the small, super-juicy berries I remember picking from our yard when I was a kid (NOT the wild strawberries). The ones I buy are grown by a Mennonite family, and they don't use any pesticides or herbicides. They're SO much better than those GMO gigantic berries that are available in plastic boxes at the grocery store. :)

In my part of fly-over country, locally grown produce is always called "home-grown". People here do understand that it's not from their own backyard or that of a neighbor. Only one local place has huge fields of berries - most come in from small plots owned by the Amish and Mennonites here - literally sold off the back of a rickety old pickup truck (always driven by a Mennonite). Perhaps it's a regional thing...

Rob, I have that Cinnabon recipe, too. It's great. I do not use the cream cheese frosting because a friend of mine is lactose intolerant so I just frost with 10X and a little lactose free milk icing.. Still tastes great! I made a carrot cake when DS was visiting because it's his favorite and one 9 x 13 dessert covered all three days. :-))) Also made some brownies and chocolate chip cookies raspberry coconut thumbprints and lemon bars and pecan pie bars. I have a bag full of c. c. cookies in the freezer ready to be baked whenever needed so don't think I'll be baking for awhile.

My assistance with the rhubarb/strawberry cobbler was merely to suggest instant tapioca as a thickener rather than just flour which was used the previous time, and to take the cobbler out of the oven at the proper time instead of forgetting about it.

My wife brought the remainder of the cobbler to a trail-ride brunch a day or so later, and everyone there was telling her to thank me for making it. Since I usually do all of the cooking, they all had a hard time believing that my wife made it.

OklaMoni, I kind of know how you feel. It was 98 yesterday. Well, Summer in AZ is going to be a long one. But with plenty of no bake treats!

The "homegrown" moniker must be a regional usage. My area supplies a wide variety of fruits and veggies for local consumption as well as for much of the US and even in farmers' markets, even for produce sold by smaller and family run farms, I don't think anything grown in a commercial operation with the intent to be sold can be or is called "homegrown". It can be called "local", if indeed local, and even many food items in grocery stores are so-labeled. I'm sure that's done elsewhere too.

I could be wrong but I haven't noticed the term in use. Maybe others in my area have?

I'll probably get rocks thrown at me for admitting to using a box mix....BUT...I have struggled with a banana bread recipe that I am really happy with for quite some time. My neighbor makes really good banana bread...I love it. Very basic recipe but I can not seem to duplicate it. Mine just doesn't come out the same. She used to bring me some when she'd bake but we're not friends anymore SO NO MORE OF HER GOOD BANANA BREAD FOR ME!! lol Anyways...I had 2 overripe bananas at home so I decided to try the Chiquita brand box mix for banana bread...2 bananas water and an egg.....well what do you know....some pretty good banana bread for out of box!! There's one piece left :-)

I'm with Moni on this one! Our temperatures have been in the high 90's with 'real feel' temps in the 3 digit range. No way I'm turning on the oven!

I do love to bake, but don't do much of it anymore. I don't need the calories, nor do any of my family members. The last time I baked was for Christmas, apple pies, pumpkin pies, and pumpkin rolls.

I do have a toaster oven that I can bake small amounts in, but it's old, and the outside gets pretty hot, so I don't like to use it in hot weather, either. I've been thinking about one of those 'oven air fryers' that are being touted on TV now. Anyone here have any experience with one?
