Craft Room Redo

I have a tiny corner space for my craft room. Need to get the best storage area for it. I just cleared everything out to organize all my supplies, etc. Any ideas how to revamp this area for maximum storage? All I can think of is peg board on the walls to hang things off of. Or maybe cabinets along the top of the walls. Any ideas welcomed!

Can you show the whole room? You might be able to use more than just the corner.

Consider building shelving up and over the freezer, leaving enough room to open it.

And wrap shelving and cabinets around that window

Are you able to make that tiny corner into a desk running along the wall (under the window)? I think you personally would be more comfortable facing the window than angled into the corner, you'd be able to add better light, and you could use the right side of the desk for better storage. You could also create storage in the "legs" of the desk.....my office desk has 2 Alex drawer units as legs, which is great for adding lots of storage.

I'm a big fan of hanging things on walls, because it adds texture to the room in addition to storage (and is more visually interesting than boring cabinetry). I've used things intended for school rooms because they're often bright and colourful, which can help perk up a small, ill-lit corner. You can use the clothes rod there to hang storage cubbies (or even a shoe rack - depends on the size of your supplies). If you use a long desk under the window, you could get a rolling cart of shelves or baskets to store under there, then pull out when you need it, or need the space.

thank you Cathrugg ! My room was exactly the utility room in the house plan & the builders goofed & put it on blocks for the raised concrete foundation we have. DH told them to leave it, I always wanted a room to do crafts in so I got it. It has been a bit of a challenge sometimes with the longer than wider shape of the room but hey, I got a room right! I found inspiration for my craftroom by googling craftroom images & on the BH&G site. Also on these places like AOL decorating, home ideas, Southern living, southern accents, that have some hobby rooms & multi-purpose rooms you can tour. Have fun looking & dreaming up ideas! Bonnie

Is this the room you posted pics of a few weeks ago; think you were asking about pink. I started painting my office yesterday. Was going to do a sage; but had a gallon of Behr Fossil Butte; which was my original color for the office that I decided was probably too dark. Asked my daughter; she said to go for it with the Fossil butte so I did the bump out. I'm tempted to paint the whole room this color but hub says no; so now I need to decide on a 2nd color. Of course I don't have the full card the color was on; so I'll have to run to depot later.

I would say the cabinets in the scullery are original and doubt there was an icebox. Also, don't think the window is original and no there is no door. It is quite cramped in there. But over the years something was done to that area as you can see the 1960s molding they put around the window and the opening. Well you guys have given me something to think about for sure. I was going to gut the left side so that I could put 30" cabinets on the right with a dishwasher, leaving the sink and the top cabinets on the right. In doing so we would be ruining the scullery by making it bigger making it part of the new kitchen??? Gosh I hate to ruin it. Regardless the bottom cabinets need to be replaced; they stink and are kinda soft they could be gumwood. The uppers appear to be some other kind of wood. Have a serious small budget however since we don't live in Buffalo - this is a second home. But there's no hurry. I will see if the Amish people can build some simple 24" cabinets to replace the bottoms. Maybe there's a way to get 24" cabinets at a reasonable cost? BTW the bigger room adjacent where we are going to put the appliances has so many window and door openings that it quite challenging to get many cabinets. A few around the stove and an island is about all we can do with it. I will post more pics and dimensions once we get back up there. Luckily for us, only the kitchen and bathroom require major work, the other rooms have been lived in quite lightly over the years. Amazing.

The other half of the room is my husbands workspace. This is all I have. I actually took down the shelving over the freezer. We are thinking of putting top cabinets the length of that wall and then maybe peg boards on both walls...but framing the pegboards so it looks nicer.

When you sew, where do you lay out the pattern and cut the fabric? In my craft room, I use a flat hollow-core door ($10.00 at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore) over a pair of two-drawer file cabinets (used; also from the ReStore; good craft storage) as my sewing table. I started with it against the wall and soon learned that I needed to be able to walk around three sides of the table to effectively cut fabric. Now it is paced coming out from the wall (short end against wall) and works perfectly. I painted the door turquoise to go with my room. I also use shelves, peg board, bulletin board and baskets for storage. DH might be able to share this table for his projects if you place it down the center of the room under the window. Hope this helps! (Photo is of my BFF's craft room; I helped her do the same thing for a craft table but hers is pink!)
