How Do You Ladies Roll Up Your Hair?
Comments (42)I too have a good amount of fine hair and although I used to go through all those rolling, pinning, perms . . . one day I just decided to get it cut and see what happened. I found out I had just enough wave/curl to not look so bad! What a relief. I can wash and semi dry and be gone. In the heat and humidity here anything I would try to do would be gone a minute after I walk out the door. It's nice that the older you get the less you feel you need to impress anyone with your looks. Not that I don't try to look my best when I go out among humans, but I just don't feel the need to make myself miserable doing it. I no longer suffer wearing good looking shoes either. Those orthopedic shoes are really comfortable! Yes, I do remember when I wouldn't be caught dead making a quick run to the store in curlers....See MoreHair today...gone tomorrow
Comments (11)Audrey, my sis did that last month and I was cheering, she really was due. She had retired, and her replacement didn't work out, her boss called begging her to come back to work for 6 months to straighten out the books. Overwhelmed with projects she'd started at home and commuting, working full time again, she just let her hair go rather than spend her day off keeping a salon appointment. Then, she decided she may as well keep growing a while longer, do the Locks of Love....she has 99% gray very thick hair. It was pretty awful - in a pony tail, or banana clip, silver at the roots while a little yellowish at the ends and some indescribable color in between. It aged her terribly. Cute short bob now. She made her donation and of course that was generous. She's never been one to fuss much with hair or makeup and the bob easy for her. I hope you enjoy yours for summer and soon love it ;)...See MoreRevisiting - Fine Hair
Comments (14)Funky I have thin hair and started using the Redken 6 after hearing about it here. I also like Paul Mitchell Thicken Up lotion. Hair color makes my hair much thicker feeling. I color my own roots because they need to be done about every 3 weeks, but I have my hair dresser do the over-all permanent color about every 4 months to even things out and keep it vibrant looking. It ALWAYS feels thicker then. Another thing I use at home is Redken Shades semi-permanent color. It is SO EASY to use and lasts about a month. I am a chestnut/brown, love some red in my hair, and use a color called Cherry Cola. My daughter also uses the Shades, but she mixes colors. It basically coats the hair, making it thicker and adds a lot of shine. You can't mess them up - so easy for the DIY'er to do at home. I have a hairdresser friend who gets mine or you can get it from Amazon....See MoreRemind me ... who are our short-haired ladies here?
Comments (48)I love your cut, Ida Claire! My hair is probably most like the one Peppapoodle posted -- kind of between that and Yayagal's. My style may shift a bit as I am looking for a new stylist -- and I'm thinking of letting it get a bit longer in back for fall and winter, but as it is now, I towel dry it and brush it into shape -- let it air dry while I get dressed and then give it a quick dry just sweeping the sides back with the brush and using a round brush on the top and bangs if needed -- usually more as it grows out. Optimal would probably be a cut every 3-4 weeks, but a good cut can take me 4-6 weeks with a little extra effort. I have gone 6-8 weeks, but that has had more to do with trying to let it get a little longer to change the shape a bit or avoiding looking for a new stylist, which I really hate, If I am stretching between cuts, I might use a little mousse on the top and bangs to hold the shape when they get heavier....See MoreOutsidePlaying
