Congratulations! My hair is not super long, but I haven't cut it in at least a year. Yes it does feel strange to lose all that hair at once . Glad you had enough to donate! ,

I wish I looked good in short hair, I would cut it off in a second! I look hideous in short hair though, I see women that look great with short hair and I'm envious! I've had it short one time and I hated it. Now I just pull it up in a clip most days but when I get "fixed up" I can wear it down. It's just above my shoulders.

It will take some getting used to, but you'll love it for the summer I am sure. I recently got so fed up with mine because it was so knotted up everyday. I take care of livestock so I would have to have it in a ponytail or had a toque on and the middle was in such bad shape. My hair was a little past my shoulders. I ended up taking some clippers and scissors and buzzed the back and left more on the sides and front. It actually looked pretty darn good. Best of all it is easy to manage. No more ripping my brush through my hair to get out the matts. A warning you will probably from time to time feel weird if you've had long hair for a while and as it grows you'll have to maintain it, but it's pretty freeing when you have an easy manage short do.

I usually do that for the summer, cut extremely short. I have an appointment next Saturday and I don't think I will go quite as short this time. It has been growing out over the winter, I have her just trim it up and it's looking good, lots of pretty curls. In fact my brother in law asked me if I had got my hair curled, I think he meant a permanent. I said no it's just natural curl. I had hair past my butt for most of my life and started cutting it a little bit at a time and now in the summer I am darn near bald. I sweat so much from my head having it short is soooo much cooler.

I am sure you will enjoy it and it always grows back.

Audrey, my sis did that last month and I was cheering, she really was due. She had retired, and her replacement didn't work out, her boss called begging her to come back to work for 6 months to straighten out the books. Overwhelmed with projects she'd started at home and commuting, working full time again, she just let her hair go rather than spend her day off keeping a salon appointment.

Then, she decided she may as well keep growing a while longer, do the Locks of Love....she has 99% gray very thick hair. It was pretty awful - in a pony tail, or banana clip, silver at the roots while a little yellowish at the ends and some indescribable color in between. It aged her terribly.

Cute short bob now. She made her donation and of course that was generous. She's never been one to fuss much with hair or makeup and the bob easy for her. I hope you enjoy yours for summer and soon love it ;)

2 of my granddaughters are growing their hair for Locks of Love. They are 4 and 7, it is a project for the church. I think hair cut day is in May. they will be beautiful whether long or short hair.

Gosh ... I thought that I could pretty well count on keeping what little I have ...

... but do ya figger there'll be more of it gone by tomorrow? ... and successive tomorrows?

I grew mine out over the winter; first time in Years I've had long hair. I got NO compliments on it so last night got my summer cut. It's like (Big Bang) Penny's new short cut. Just a little different than she usually cuts it and I really like it. As long as there's humidity I have some curl. When it's dry I have ugly hair.

How fun! Hope you end up loving it! I've gone from very long to very short all in one go, but I had had really short hair before, so I knew what to expect.

My daughter has 18-20 inches worth of REALLY thick, very healthy hair, measured from her neck down to her waist, and wants to cut it short. But she wants it first to a little bit past her shoulders so she can still put it in a ponytail for a trip she's going on, then she wants it cut even more as soon as she gets back home. I wonder how she'll end up feeling about it since it's been a few years and her previous short cut was a typical kids' cut. She's 17 now. It will take styling, and she doesn't like to fuss. So yeah, it'll be interesting!

I did that some five years ago. My boss kept saying, I feel like a total stranger is sitting at your desk! I did feel naked, but mostly, it would dry before I had styled it?! That was my biggest adjustment. My hair is so long it takes hours for it dry.

My hair went through a transformation and I didn't even know it because I was keeping it long. Last year I just got tired of it and had my stylist chop off about eight inches before she even washed it.

Back in the chair, we could watch it curl practically before our eyes! A good curly. She styled it in a way to take advantage of the curl and now, all I do is put a volumizing mousse on my towel dried hair, let it air dry, then brush it into however it's going to look for the day.

Every day is different, but I always love it.
