Help in picking UNFINISHED Engineered Hardwood flooring

We are building a house and looking for unfinished hardwood floors. Our contractor will give us the color and texture we want so our only decision is to pick the wood type.
It’s a high ranch and we will have hardwood floors on both lower and upper level. After reading various articles we are leaning towards (unfinished) engineered hardwood for both lower and upper levels.

We would go for a darker stain, 5” wide. Something that can be sanded at least twice in future (3mm+ veneer). We saw Brazilian Walnut in a shop and liked the look of it, it’s expensive though.
Based on my understanding hardness level of the wood is one of the primary criteria in durability and cost. Brazilian walnut seems to be on top of the list.

What wood would you guys recommend ? We have two small kids but no pets, if that matters.

Thanks for the suggestions!
