Best option for movie to stain wood stair tread? Rejuvenate?
Comments (2)I'd carefully restain the stair treads. Know that where there is already/still stain, it'll darken some so wipe that part off immediately. Any rejuvenation product is going to effect the actual color of the wood that isn't stained already. You'll just make that another, different color. So stain them, but wipe the undamaged area first and right away. Let it dry completely before you decide if that area needs a 2nd treatment. Oh, shoot. What did the installer use as a sealer? Because that'll determine if the stain actually changes the OK area. I admit I'm sorry you paid the guy before he took the steps you're taking. It should have been 1) no charge, 2) a no-brainer and 3) a problem a pro wouldn't have created for himself. Someone will probably jump in with better suggestions....See MoreColors to go along with knotty pine interior
Comments (18)My suggestion is this, find a great painter. Do a pickle finish on the knotty pine. Walls and beams two coats and ceiling one coat. It will still show the texture but update the space overall. Do NOT let them use a white that’s has warm tones, blue toned white pickle finish. Then the charcoal? Sofa/divan works. The area to the right of the front door is a play/study area. Move the tall cabinet on the stair wall. Then the wall it was on becomes the play area future game table study area with a comfortable large scale upholstered chair on the window wall. Then move the tv and console/stand to the wall opposite of the larger bay windows that backs your kitchen counter. Place a long console in front of the bay of windows and place the sofa/divan in front of it. Use the chair ottoman to the left of the fireplace for the time being. Add a comfy chair just to the left of the door when you can. Kids are ez so have a few floor cushions made for tv viewing fun. Cool puppy! Pyrenees? I ❤️ the wall lamp above the sofa. Navy or deep royal blue and medium green with a pop of coral are good accents and mount those shades about 3/4 of the way up the windows. Looks cold there so u can add neutral drapery panels to draw when you need a little insulation...See MorePlease help with hanging curtains along staircase
Comments (14)I originally planned to do a roman shade, but a friend suggested fun curtains and I fell in love with these. (eld616, I will have to check out that roman shade site, it looks cool). I had envisioned hanging them like Partim suggested but when it came time to hubby hanging the bar I started googling how to hang curtains and panicked. My children are 10, 13, and 15 y/o so I am not worried about Tarzan scenario, lol. Very good comment from Yvonne about the illusion that stairs aren't there; I hadn't thought about that. I still really want to use these curtains as I found coordinating pillows, a clock, and cool frames for pics of the kids surfing and at the beach. I think the comment about hanging them high and it looking formal is a good point. Also, even though I am 6 ft tall, I don't think I would be able to open and close the curtain on the stair side if they were hung too high....See MoreBest way to match our LVP flooring to wooden stair treads?
Comments (18)@hallettco, it's been a long day.....totally forgot the OP said LVP in her first post between my first comment and second comment. I was looking at what appeared to be solid wood in the pic she posted. FWIW, my builder installed red oak treads after we had very light white oak flooring installed and he clear coated them. It's not off terribly but it's been a bone of contention between us. It's not horrible but he gave us a discount so I'm living with them for now :/...See MoreGail Stivers
