Matching stairs to Provenza LVP flooring
Comments (15)@Katie Tortonesi- we put Jet set on our stairs to match the rest of the flooring. Jet set has a bit of a cross-sawn grooving in it so it’s not super slippery. We’ve had it installed for 1.5 years and no one has fallen. It is different than having carpet though and takes a bit of getting used to. We have teenagers so no safety concerns. One thought we be to add a runner on the stairs afterward if you are concerned or have little ones....See MoreRed oak stair treads to match maple floors ideas. Please help! ASAP
Comments (15)I get the dilemma. Perhaps you can get 2 pieces of the same wood as your steps and try a walnut stain and a no-stain-just-poly example. I’m torn between keeping the steps being natural with polyurethane or getting them a little darker for maintenance reasons. Steps take a beating, so unless there is a runner in their future (which doesn’t make sense with that gorgeous staircase) I would be concerned about wear and tear. But enough poly on anything is like iron, so going natural would absolutely work. My curiosity would force me to try to match the darkest line in the main floor. And yes, your floors are INCREDIBLE! What a gift to find these under carpeting!...See MoreLVP vs wood tread stairs stained to match
Comments (1)I had new oak stairs installed and our carpenter matched the stain of our stairs to our Italian porcelain wood look tile flooring. I am sure you could do the same with matching your stairs to the LVP...See MoreRefinishing wood floors and trying to best match different woods
Comments (33)So after re reading your recommendations. It sounds like even if I moved to duraseal stain instead of Minwax, I could still have an issue with not just the Bona hd but any Bona poly waterbase or really any waterbase poly?? Do u recommend if I really want the waterbase then I Shd stick with either water pop and then one stain coat and I can use any Bona waterbase unless I use Minwax stain then I need to make sure to use Bona one or Bona mega or Bona domo? Do u prefer the pallmann pall-x to Bona? Also is it okay to do a dye then stain and then waterbase poly? Sounds like another option is to find an oil poly like duraseal matte that perhaps won’t make the ebony like amber once the oil is applied? When u use the oil do u also do three coats? Do u wait 72 hours between oil base Poly applications? Do u think a poly oil would be as durable as Bona hd or Bona one or mega? I don’t really know what this Bona domo does. My floor guy picked it up to try. And the Nordic seal which a bigger problem. I also have a duraseal waterbase poly to try. We feel like it’s a perfect storm and so hard to finger point the issue. Is it the Minwax, is it the drying time not being long enough, is it not sanding to 100, is it the Brazilian cherry? I Shd have just pulled it up but I have so much of it. The oak upstairs looks fabulous. Sorry for the long windedness you have just been so helpful. 🙏🏻...See Morecpartist
