What paint colors play nicely with knotty pine?
Comments (4)Okay, I took some pics of various colors with my knotty pine -- hoping that they photographed true! First is a shot of the wall and ceilingnext are the books that I mentioned; they all have a muted or grayish undertone: I also found some Ben Moore color samples that I thought work well -- these were harder to photograph without glare, and they all came out looking alike (they are all soft sage, green-blue, blue, gray & gray-green) so here are the names -- perhaps you can look at them in a store: Wind Chime, Morning Dew, Tranquility, Crystalline, and Cloud White (which is a tiny bit on the gray side), Coventry Gray, Polar Sky. I particularly like the first 4 (Wind Chime, Morning Dew, Tranquility and Crystalline)...See MoreShould exterior paint "go along" with the house's interior paint?
Comments (4)Thank you. Ben Moore classic gray is hard to describe. In my home it is reading very warm, not at all cool. Not to greige or beige or yellow but definitely not cool. That’s why I’m liking it. I’m familiar with the historical colors of this home, and I have them pop up in my entry, in my pillows, and in my art. I just want less warmth and more modern balance. Really a tough one....See MoreHelp me find this color? Searching for colors to go with knotty pine

Find a few you like, buy sample pots and paint large squares of each color in the middle of its own white poster board. Move them around the room in differing natural and artificial light, different times of day and varying weather conditions to see which one matches up best....See MoreHome office makeover - paint color suggestions for knotty pine walls
Comments (8)Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Yup I used 2 coats of shellac primer on the knots, then about 3 coats on the paneling. Glossy ceiling has been painted with a flat ceiling paint and the boob light is definitely going ! Being replaced with a contemporary white fan. I will rethink white for the walls, I like the photos above and can see that with the right furnishings and decor it doesn’t have to look like a shabby chic beach cottage....See MoreJennifer
