opinion on length of vanity light, please
Comments (5)I would do the larger light, to better light the usable mirror space. It wonâÂÂt make one iota of difference as to whether people notice that there is only one sink - that is what they are in the bathroom for. You had better hope that people using the bathroom notice the sink! LOL As for the second question, just as you would not feel obligated to put the same lamps in every room in the house, that is also true for the bathrooms. Each is a separate space, and each can have a completely different decor. Builders put in the same lights everywhere because it is easy and cheap. Trust me, I know from personal experience! I still have a light bar in our downstairs bath after 22 years in the house. At least the upstairs bath got replaced!...See MoreBathroom faucet finish suggestions?
Comments (8)Thanks, all. We only call it mausoleum tile because the bathroom has no windows at all and it's about 5 x 7' total and every bit of it is tile. I don't actually mind the tile style--it's the wraparound effect that I find a bit much. I'm afraid to drill into the tile to hang anything, so it's really a lot of tile surface for such a small space. Also, my kids have probably read too much Edgar Allen Poe. :)...See MoreBoring bathroom help!
Comments (5)You have a beautiful bathroom. Basically you just need to move in. Fowl bars, some great fluffy towels and some art. I personally like a minimal look in the bathroom. It is easier to clean and more serene....See MoreStumped with design plan
Comments (13)I was all onboard thinking about the movie room then realized you also said mother-in-law suite and presume this bath would be used by them. So I would be of a mind to be a bath that would be great even for older eyes. There is already a lot of movement in your various tiles in the shower so they get to be the star (no pun intended) and the rest of the bath should be calmer to support them. I would suggest using one of the three lighter colors (if it will work with the light grey in the tile and the marble look tile. Is your vanity black or dark blue? It's very pretty. I like the wood accent in your inspiration photo but notice that the rest of that room is very zen. I think it doesn't fit with the vibe of your bath. I think a great alternative would be a gold rimmed mirror, a good place for you to mix your metals. It might be a challenge but if you could match that deep burnished color in your light fixture that it would be beautiful. I agree you could do the vanity pulls in gold, and altogether you would have a very glam space. A framed 1920s movie poster would tie it in to your movie room very nicely....See Moresylwia89
