greeny, if you didn't have to use free and clear and gentle detergents, would you use more Tide products? I'm thinking I am being too critical of Tide without enough personal evidence.

Ecover Zero liquid- dark towels and items potentially impacted from optical brightener. I bring this with me when I travel for sink laundry- it does a decent job of removing odors.

Tide Ultra Stain Release Free- for workout clothes and general stinky pre-wash situations. The scented version is ok too.

Grab Green Lavender Vanilla pods- white/blue polka dot sheets

Persil Pearls- white towels

Ecover Fabric Softener- towels and occasionally jeans

Persil 2-1 Liquid- microfiber towels/rags

Tide with Bleach liquid- other jobs

Julie you do know the Tide with Bleach Alternative doent really have any bleach in it??

Yup, I am aware, just forgot to add "Alternative" on at the end. Also know it doesn't have any sodium percarbonate. I washed my white shower curtain this morning, used it, and also added some oxygen bleach.

Mama, I bought 8 boxes of the old scent Ultra Tide Plus Bleach Powder (dated 2013) from Big Lots. It has that great brisk herbal scent!

Darks-Tide coldwater liquid HE Turbo (rarely wash in cold water, usually warm. I find this is a really good detergent).

Colors-I am experimenting with Tide w/downy pods since buying for our vacation a few weeks ago. They work ok, but have the sweet tart scent bead smell unfortunately.

Whites-Persil Pearls or Tide coldwater powder (in warm or hot water lol. Again, a great performer since in Canada we don't have Tide w/bleach powder). Am recently experimenting with Persil 2in1 liquid as well. I find it works excellent on most of my families stains, and kitchen towels, including tomato sauce, which is usually a tough one.

bedding-Tide w/downy liquid HE Turbo. One of my favorites. This plus line drying my sheets (when time and weather permits) is sheer heaven!

Occasionally I'll throw in some Kirkland signature or Gain Original fabric softener, but not often. I do throw in an Outdoor fresh Bounce sheet with my darks and colors usually though.

Thanks Jase for the fun thread! I like reading these. Out of curiosity, off the top of my head, I just counted 20 different detergents in my stash without actually checking. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Eek! Lol. Mostly different Tide and North American Persil versions, Sunlight, Purex oxi, Country Save, Gain, and a few others. Also, most of them are the large size. My excuse is we do a lot of laundry around here in a water hog SQ TL'er, so I need to be well stocked at all times lol.

Tide Pro with Oxi for whites and lights including white bath towels& face cloths, white bedding, white kitchen towels

Mexican Ariel powder for colors, jeans, microfiber and anything with unexpected heavy soils

Ariel liquid (Big Lots) same usage as Ariel powder

Tide F&G pods...just about for everything except dark darks, and dog bedding and toys

Pat, I love pretty much all of Tide's formulas. I'd use many more if I wasn't restricted to using only scent free products in my home. Tide formulas are excellent at cleaning, smell wonderful, plus they are low sudsing and clean rinsing.

I really love the scent of Era, Cheer and all of the Gain formulas too.

Well you have me following and paying attention as I only recently got a front loader. I have been depleting my stash of liquid HE detergents. I am not brand loyal and do not have a favorite. I mostly would buy what was a good sale on several brands (Arm and Hammer, Tide, Dynamo, Fab, Purex, Persil, etc).

After reading here I thought I understood (ha) that powder was preferable on a front loader so I thought I would peruse these threads to see what most liked. When I was at the store I saw so many so I decided to come back here and get educated.

I thought I read that the pods were not good, that many liked Cheer and Tide.........now I am reading that many of you have different detergents for different items (dark, towels etc) and now I see I have to study a bit more. Well luckily I still have one more thing of Arm and Hammer liquid and THEN I have to make a decision. I will continue following along!

@sheilaaus122. You'll find that we all share a particular illness for acquisition and use of various/sundry laundry items. My arsenal stays pretty much the same, with favorites being Cheer Powder and Cheer liquid for almost everything I wash, adding oxygen bleach, as needed (usually for whites, towels). And Dreft Powder for delicates.

I also have/use: A&H Powder Clean Burst and Tide Powder Original

Fabric softener/conditioner: Downy Free/Gentle, sometimes spiked w/very small amount of Downy April Fresh.

Spray 'n Wash & Zout

Snuggle Blue Sparkle dryer sheets.

Well I have been looking for Cheer Powder and was going to ask someone to post a photo of it? I cannot locate it in my usual stores. And what is the verdict on the pods? Since I couldn't find the Cheer, I went and bough the Arm and Hammer liquid again.......When you say oxygen bleach do you mean oxiclean or a bleach bleach? thanks

oh I just saw Pat's post. No, when I first signed up for thathomesite which was the precursor to Gardenweb/Houzz, it prompted me to put my name and country. I added an A to SHEILA which became SHEILAA and then the US so its SHEILAAUS and then just added a random 122 and now everyone figures I am in Australia. Would be exciting but I am in the US:)

Oxygen Bleach is Sodium percarbonate its not chlorine bleach ....I don't know another way to put it other than oxygen bleach. Lol

Some people do use oxyclean which does have ooxygen bleach in it but much more sodium carbonate than oxi

@sheilaaus122 -- ah, thathomesite! So much has changed from the time Spike would send people to Disneyland/Disneyworld when they'd misbehave, and at the same time, very little has changed it seems.

I remember those days. Don't know how Spike kept up with so many GW Forums, but he did. I got pretty nasty with someone on one gardenlng Forum and should have been banished, but instead the other member got zapped. I feel bad about that now but I think he forgave me.
