The 4th of July isn't a religious holiday

Newspapers are on the wane. Many are gone, most that remain are a shadow of their former selves. It's a loss. Ad revenue is down, they take what customer revenue they can get.

Page 3 of my morning paper (San Jose Mercury News) was a full page Hobby Lobby "ad" containing a number of textural comments from the Bible and the 18th and 19th centuries that they've misunderstood and quoted out of context. The text tells me they view the July 4th holiday as an opportunity to proselytize in a religious way and suggests that their extreme religious views are representative of our diverse country as it exists today. I found the messages conveyed to be extremely inappropriate and offensive. July 4th is a national and secular day for all Americans. Their views are unwelcome and extreme for many people.

I've not included a link so as to not offend the "Heavens no, not in this forum" contingent who may think this is a political comment. It's not.

Have a safe and happy 4th!
