Ironcook, eventually I would like to upgrade to stainless, but u are right, the crisp white would look better with the white appliances. I think the white appliances might make the cabinets look dirty if I went creamy, etc. I guess what I am worried about-- how would the crisp white look off the family room with the teak leather couch??? Do I need to bring in white woodwork, etc???? I don't have to keep the armoire. Other thought I could warm up the two spaces with a warm green like BM Sag Harbor Gray or Dried Basil---then I guess I would have to accent with green in the living room and dining room, don't know how I would do that (maybe through pillows?) Not sure if carrying different shades of the green on the color chart might help. Just not sure how an entire whole floor would look in green????

We are redoing the paint and stain on the entire exterior of our house. We have old Chicago Brick and and new dark gray roof. Looking at using Benjamin Moore paint and TWP 200 series for the stain. Would love ideas!!

So we spent a good amount of time outside over dinner looking at paint swatches and discussing many variables. We think we might have a solution but wanted some opinions. We want our home to "pop" in a good way when we're done. We have decided to not make the shutters and just hang the old plywood when a storm comes through. Tell us what you think and if celerygirl or anyone else can do a mock-up to show us what this would look like, we'd greatly appreciate it! BASE COLOR - SW 6186 Dried Thyme or SW 6187 Rosemary (concerned that Rosemary might be a little too dark. All walls and gutters in this color. TRIM COLOR - SW 7746 Rushing River - columns, garage door, trim ACCENT COLOR 1 - SW 2824 Renwick Golden Oak (or something else that looks like the cedar wood color) - main fence color (which will be sealed). Maybe also paint on the side gables??? We're still unsettled what to do with those side gables. The one on the front of the house (above the garage) is small, but the sides ones are pretty large. ACCENT COLOR 2 - SW 6994 Greenblack - front door and top lattice of the fence to tie it all in. Plus we plan to replace the coach lighting and it will be painted greenblack along with the rod iron wall plant hangers, patio furniture, etc. will all be refreshed with greenblack. Question - should the gutters look best the same as the wall or trim color? We'd like to have it not stand out. Is 4 colors too busy? Funny how we started off saying we would definitely keep the trim white and we decided to not stick with the white and as soon as I logged back on I read the suggestion from raee_gw zone 5b-6a Ohio. Your light gray colors are the wrong tone. the ones you have listed lean a little pink/taupe. your stone is more tan/golden. if you go w/something too light, it's going to look washed out. these are the tones of your stone. This evergreen fog color would look great w/your shake and the stone. I love this color on your garage doors (so some other sage green color) if you want light, try the neutral ground on the siding w/the tan shade on the trim. or vice versa. darker grays that have that green/brown undertone. all of these pair well w/the stone. I love the black w/the wood idea. Iron Ore or Wrought Iron. no cedar shake, but this has the stone facade w/the dark colors and trim so you get an idea. Your cedar would actually lend a lot of warmth to the party. if you want a little warmer, what about these? (Copper Mountain on the front door) Caramelized on the trim, the bronze on the siding. Urbane Bronze is another nice color for the siding. either of the two light ones for the trim/garage door,,,Cajun for the front door. Any of these Protege Bronze, Urbane Bronze, Nettle or Nocturne will give that dark shade, but since they all have brown undertones, will work well w/the stone and the cedar. Some other neutral tones.
