Hardwood Base Door Railings and Windows
Comments (3)From a pros view point. Either choices you could make a case for. The white baseboard in my opinion is being over played right now. Unless you have other white woodwork in your home. But out of the three options i love the maple. You sometimes see maple floors with a walnut border and having the maple base kinda gives that illusion. On the other hand your wife is right. Shes always right. Install the white woodwork and save yourself the headache. :)...See MoreAnyone lay hardwood in kitchen and match to existing hardwood?
Comments (5)I had the exact same issue. Initially they thought they could do it. But my house is old and when they did the demo they said the way they did the spacing of the supports under the wood on the older section cannot be duplicated today and the floor would never look even and the old section would always be a little higher and "squeaky". Ended up doing the whole floor. However, the hallways are old hardwood as well and the transition (via a doorway) seems fine....See MoreProtection for hardwood floor from chair with metal pedestal base
Comments (8)I have installed 1/2" x 6" felt pad strips to the bases you refer to. http://www.amazon.com/Equinox-Floor-D-Fender-Pad/dp/B002CM3AC4 You should clean the bottom well first and may need to lightly sand before application. If you have a problem with them sticking, you can coat the bottom of the rim with contact cement. That should do the trick....See MoreShould I replace engineered hardwoods with real hardwoods?
Comments (35)I'm not sure what LVT is. :) I have an appointment with the flooring person for Saturday to test out samples. Cherie, we hate forced hot air because it bothers my and the kids' asthma and allergies so I am actually very happy about these baseboard radiators as radiant heat is much easier on the lungs since it's not blowing hot air all over the place. There is central air for the summer months. We live in Northern NH... it gets cold here for sure. I am going to keep the tile in the kitchen for now and the rest will be new flooring *all going in the same direction* ! We are ripping out the red carpeting, which is in all four bedrooms as well as on the stairs. We want to replace that with flooring and we don't want yet another type of flooring in the house so it makes sense to do the living and dining room as well. When we reconfigure the kitchen, we'll have to match it up and remove the tile at that time....See MoreUser
