Comments (6)very exciting, I was just saying last night that it would be nice to actually see the end result, lol. and low and behold, this one must have heard me, haha. He/she doesn't seem to be afraid of me at all, i was wondering if they "remember" for lack of a better word, their life in the caterpillar phase, when they become butterflies? And if they are handled by people as caterpillars are they not fearful of people when they eclose? just wondering. He/she moved over to the side of a plastic container that i had to put in the reptarium after one of my cats decided to pupate on the inside wall of the container, rather than on any of the sticks i had put in the container, I am still hesitant to try and detach a chrysalis, so I try to encourage them to pupate on sticks, I think only 2 have so far though, lol. They definitely have a mind of their own, and a little on the stubborn side sometimes. I hope I will be able to release this one tomorrow. I wish the rest of them would go ahead and come out too, I am leaving for Miami in 4 weeks, and would rather they be off and on their way before then, but i still have some that are 2nd instar, so I guess that isn't going to be possible, but i am hoping anyway. Yes htown, I think they are little miracles, and it is an amazing thing to see them tranform from something kinda scary looking into something so beautiful!...See MoreNeed to vent about damage to my yard
Comments (19)Plant abuse kills me!! It is actually one of my pet peeves that we don't teach people in school how to properly maintain their shrubs and trees!! Like you said, you would expect that someone you HIRE to do it would at least have a clue, but it is amazing how clueless these people are and still make a living, because they are paid by equally clueless people. And like Alexa's neighbor, I can totally sypmathize, because my dad (the mow and blow guy) has pulled a few doozys in his day! (Like cutting down all the pesky "Cottonwood" trees along the river bank on their property, except they weren't cottonwoods, they were silver maples which are now all sprouting hydras from the stumps, and meanwhile the whole river and neighborhood for miles is lined with cottonwoods). But I'm working on him, and he is making progress! He now carefully tends the river birches I planted to try and salvage something of the view at my folks. Some people should not be allowed near power tools!...See MoreI Saw a Very Large Red Aglaonema
Comments (26)I'm sure they stay fairly small for almost everyone Fred. I wondered how long the wholesaler had to grow those to get them that big, and how much fertilizer or whatever other growing techniques they used. Of the Thai ags I have, I think my favorite is Masterpiece which is shades of green with cream and only blushes of light pink here and there and on petioles. It's a small upright grower and produces a lot of offsets. I like Sapphire Suzanne a lot too. Kaew Kanjana is a much bigger grower and probably doesn't have A. rotundum in it's heritage, I like the simplicity of its dark green leaf and thin white edge. Russ...See MoreJasdip
