Front door color and style help, please
We are replacing the front door and would like to have it factory finished with color. Any SW color can be used but I am somewhat stumped on the decision. Paying for the up charge for them to apply the color makes me really want to get this right and choose a color I will be happy with for a while.
The door has been this color for a while and was teal before that. Perhaps hunter before that , we can't remember! I have considered a little blue like Seal Salt or Dazzle but feel that perhaps it needs to be darker than the siding. Thoughts? Also have considered navy, black and dark purple.
I plan on getting a two panel door to replace this one. We need a new door handle and have to replace the door due to hole spacing. How crazy is that? Any other styles I should consider?

7 years agoYes, where is Tibb when we need her? I think there are probably other maybe even better websites where you can do this yourself (and you'll certainly do a better job than me!) but I found this one to be so user friendly, I stuck with it. Not ever heard of this paint...but you can at least get an idea. Sorry for the crudeness of my skills! Maybe someone with real skills will step in to help!
I thought maybe a dark charcoal, almost black would look nice, but I tried these, too.
Silent sea (this was as close to black as I could get without going too, too dark).

Comments (5)So for East facing, you can use green or brown colors. If you plan on keeping the rest of your house colors as is, then I would change your door to a brown color. It will help give your house a "pop" of color, update it to modern, but also keep the charm of your green and creme color scheme. Comments (12)Get the blackest black. when the son hits it, it will lighten it. In fact, when they go to tint the base, have them add a few extra squirts of the lampblack. I did this w/my black from BM. It was their blackest black. he added 4 more squirts of the black tint. Made a huge diff in the outcome. It's a true, deep rich black. i'll also mention, if you have access to Fine Paints of Europe, the Hollandlac paint is superb for front doors. One of the few, if not the only paints that won't fade. This is the high gloss, but they have other finishes. Oh, another color you might light is a deep Raisin. This would actually look very nice w/the brick and the charcoal shutters.
