When my 4 daughters were growing up I usually made 4 outfits and enjoyed it. Those days are long gone.

Nice dress. Nice too that it is something you can wear for many occasions.

When both DD were home and growing up, I dressed them up in dresses, so of course I also wore a nice dress or outfit.

Now, it will be a nice sweater and pants.

Pretty spring dress, Arcy. It's been a while since I've had an Easter outfit, there is usually something in my closet that will work and this year no exception. When we were children though, we had a new outfit for each Easter, my sister and I usually matched, complete with hats and gloves. Little white socks and white shoes. My mother made the clothes, she was really very talented at the sewing machine but its been some years now since she's sewn.

Those days are long gone.

seniorgal, I had the exact same thought when I read the question! I loved dressing up for Easter, and my favorite outfit was a bright yellow dress and hat that matched with my mother's.

No, I already have too many clothes, some of which have never been worn. Just this morning, I spent time going through drawers and purging stuff to take to Goodwill.

I do remember my sister and I in our brand new Easter dresses with white gloves and lacy white ankle socks. Sometimes we also had Easter hats. My mother dressed up in something new too and always looked so pretty. Do people still buy Easter/spring outfits for their kids? I can't recall the last time I saw someone wearing white gloves.

You bet! Just got one. Sometimes it's nice to have an excuse to buy something pretty :)

Not here. No frilly white socks or patent leather Mary Janes either. No white gloves.

Remember the newspaper photographs of those HUGE families in their Easter finery? I remember one man sewed a new outfit for each of his 12-plus children every Easter.

Can't stand dresses myself. I was the only girl with 5 brothers, mom made me a new dress and we shopped for a bonnet/hat, gloves and shoes every year. I hated wearing dresses then and still do. As soon as we were done with church and brunch those hose/tights came off in the car. I'll wear something bright but it will be pants and a jacket.

Marilyn Sue, I had to laugh when you used the word "frock". My sister uses that word quite often, she's the only one I know who does! Happy Easter!

Yes, we kid around a lot with the word frock as well as getting decorated for putting make up on and also what family jewels I will wear.

I loved dressing up for Easter as a child growing up in the Stone Age! Everyone had something new and pretty and my father had to take pictures to send to relatives - they did the same.

About 5 years ago, I decided I wanted a new Easter outfit. Went to NYC and bought gorgeous navy Italian wool - not quite a crepe but not a flannel - and beautiful navy with white polka dots silk. I bought a silk with pin dots for the lining of the coat, and China silk to line the dress. My dressmaker made these for me - did handbound button holes on the coat and covered buttons - she knew I would notice. Also, put in dress zipper by hand.

I had a beautiful Milano navy straw hat by Mr John, that was at least 50 years old that I had saved. I had the dressmaker interlined the polka dot silk and make a new bow for the hat.

Wire black patent Roger Vivier "pilgrim" mid healed pumps, triple strand pearls, and a fabulous brooch (lapis lasuli, jade and diamonds in 18kt gold) I had treated myself to earlier. Now I needed gloves! Leather? Too heavy for spring. White cotton? Easter early in March that year - too summery. I needed something I hadn't seen in decades - white doeskin leather gloves (think slightly creamy and very soft with a slight nap). Did the even exist? No, they did not...until I found a brand new pair, still in cellophane wrapper, with the Trimmingham!s Bermuda price sticker still on it - found them on Etsy.

Just found this selfie I took in the full length mirror with good lighting in my DD's childhood bathroom.

Yes, I was channeling the Queen, my fashion icon for old ladies. I looked great and I don't know when I've enjoyed any outfit more. I had dressmaker make a matching navy wool dress for colder weather, with this lightweight spring coat (remember those?) or under a fur coat for church in the winter.

Haven't decided what I'll wear this year - get back from London about 11pm night before so won't be at the top of my game. But I'll wear a hat, if for no other reason than I will gave missed my weekly hair appt!
