Very pretty, but those edison-style bulbs are more for ambiance than for creating light, so it depends on what you want it to do.

This is not our main source of lighting. We have recessed lights throughout the kitchen and under cabinet lights.

i think the bulbs would bother my eyes after awhile, too much glare....yes, i do think u need to match the fixtures, SS or go white.

We didn't match the metals, but with the way our kitchen is set up, it's not very obvious. Your kitchen is open so it might be more obvious.

I have to agree about those light bulbs being kind of glary, but if you haven't already done so, you could dimmers in so you could turn it down.

I'm not a fan of the lighting you linked to. I think you can do a lot better, I really like this one. Check out Bellacor.com, they have some really nice lighting options.

You don't need one. Put a plate over it and use what you already gave. Ceiling fixtures in kitchen just get greasy and nasty with dust/dirt.

I like the one you returned but it's 19 inches wide so I can see where it could have been overwhelming for the space. The one I pictured above is only 13 inches wide and would probably fit the space better. Or you could try a flush mount.

I also love this or something along this lines. This one comes in silver or bronze and would be easy to find a matching chandi to go with it. Also 13 inches

@lukkirish-this is one that I was considering. I like the dark one however I feel it is not right with the cabinet hardware.

Don't get an open bowl shape. They are terrible bug and dust collectors.

Have you considered a chandelier? Looks like you have clearance for it.

How tall are your ceilings? With all the canned lights why not go with something that hangs down a bit more,and something with more width? I would even go with a fan and fixture..I have a converted chandler in mine and do not find it difficult to keep clean. Yours will be far enough from the stove it won't be any more of an issue than anything else in that room.

8' ceilings

With 8 ft. ceilings, you don't have a lot of room. The one you suggested looks too tall. What about this?

@saypoint- I like the fixture but it is a fabric shade....might not last long in a kitchen and be hard to clean.

Your kitchen is traditional looking, so I'd do something like a schoolhouse light--perhaps the Jefferson from Rejuvenation. I have it in my kitchen.

I agree with Emory, keep it simple.

Another thought -- if you are up for it, would be to move the can over the table to that spot and put a chandelier over the table.
